What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the NBC television network, the Bluff City Law TV series stars Jimmy Smits, Caitlin McGee, Scott Shepherd, Barry Sloane, Michael Luwoye, MaameYaa Boafo, Stony Blyden, and Jayne Atkinson. Coming from a famous Memphis family that’s known for taking on injustice, a brilliant lawyer named Sydney Strait (McGee) used to work at her father Elijah’s celebrated law firm until their tumultuous relationship got in the way. After barely speaking to Elijah (Smits) for years, Sydney is suddenly thrust back into the family fold when her philanthropist mother passes away unexpectedly. In the wake of the loss of his wife and in hopes of reconnecting with the daughter he loves, Elijah asks Sydney to rejoin his Civil Rights firm and take on a chemical company whose product may cause cancer. Despite her lingering resentment and distrust, she agrees because she knows that working alongside her father is her best hope at changing the world — as long as they can find a way to get along. No sooner has Sydney returned than she stumbles on a secret that Elijah has been keeping from her that may change everything.

Telly’s Take
Will NBC cancel or renew Bluff City Law for season two? The ratings aren’t great and have been dropping lower and lower. A show that follows The Voice should be doing better. I think it will be cancelled. I’ll update this page with breaking developments. Subscribe for Bluff City Law cancellation or renewal alerts.
6/16/20 update: Bluff City Law has been cancelled by NBC so, there won’t be a second season.

What do you think? Were you hoping that the Bluff City Law would be renewed for a second season? Are you sorry that NBC has cancelled this TV show, instead?
Bluf City Law is an awesome show! There is never a problem airing shows that promote violence , so why is it that this show that is a complete breath of fresh air remain on the air. It mimics true life on a more positive aspect.
Wonderful breathe of fresh air for the law/law enforcement TV show population. I cannot wait to see what season 2 brings!!! This is better than all of the horrible reality shows you call entertainment!
Love this show! Bring it back!
Cancel The Voice
I love Bluff City Law. Please don’t cancel this program.
Love Bluff City. Hoping for 2nd Season.
Love this show! Please, please, please bring it back for a second season.
I have been enjoying Bluff City Law. It’s unfortunate that NBC chose to set its broadcast following a show like The Voice, which would have an extremely different audience and I can see why it gets such low ratings in that position. Why not put it with other dramas, instead.
I really enjoy the fresh outlook that this show brings to television today.
Great show with a great cast! It has great story lines. Please renew for a second season and give more viewers a chance to tune in and watch it. I would hate to see it cancelled and be replaced by another reality show!
I have never once gotten into any law show that has ever hit the main stream. But Bluff City Law has been amazing to watch. It’s like Law & Order meets This is Us. I love it! I would be completely sad if it didn’t come back for a second season, especially given the way this season ended.
It’s a shame that this show will ultimately be cancelled. The likely reason for poor ratings is that it does follow The Voice. The demographics for that show and for BCL are entirely different. This is a bad lead in. It deserves a second go round on a different night.
I think it would be a great shame to cancel this show on several counts. The stellar performances by the Entire Cast, is a rare privilege to witness, with Jimmy Smits and Jayne Atkinson two actors at the height of the acting talents -they bring a warmth and humanity to their roles that is rare, and a privilege to view, and the rest of the cast are excellent each and everyone. Each week I look forward with enthusiasm to this hour, it is a cut above!
Please give this show another season.
I LOVE bluff city law-please don’t cancel it-I looked forward to watching EVERY week!!!!!
I have enjoyed the show and would like very much to see it renewed. The charaters (actors) are wonderful and I’d like to see more of them. The story lines capture what’s happening around us portraying both side. I have enjoyed the Memphis and surrounding area scenes that capture the beauty and spirit of the City. Maybe a different time slot?
Bluff City Law is a high quality show that my husband and I religiously watch every week. The story lines are outstanding and contemporary. Please renew Bluff City Law for another season!, The young female attorney is feisty and is an excellent role model for future attorneys.
Please don’t cancel.
