Last year, Days of Our Lives was (once again) the lowest-rated of the four remaining network soap operas. It seemed very possible that it could be cancelled by NBC but the network renewed Days in March 2018. Will it be renewed for season 55 for the 2019-20 broadcast season or, is this venerable soap truly in its final days? Stay tuned. *Status update below.
Premiering on November 8th of 1965, Days of Our Lives is set in the fictitious Midwestern town of Salem. It revolves around the members of the Brady, Horton, and DiMera families — along with their friends, enemies, and lovers. Castmembers include Lucas Adams, Lamon Archey, Camila Banus, Nadia Bjorlin, Tyler Christopher, Kassie DePaiva, Mary Beth Evans, Billy Flynn, Galen Gering, Deidre Hall, Drake Hogestyn, Olivia Rose Keegan, Victoria Konefal, Lauren Koslow, Eric Martsolf, Chandler Massey, Marci Miller, Casey Moss, Melissa Reeves, James Reynolds, Suzanne Rogers, Christopher Sean, Freddie Smith, Sal Stowers, Josh Taylor, Greg Vaughan, Vanessa A. Williams, and Robert Scott Wilson.

For comparisons: The 2017-18 season of Days of Our Lives averaged a 0.53 rating in the 18-49 female demographic with 2.25 million total viewers.

I’ve been watching this show for 4 years, please do Not take it off the air!!!!! Love this show forever. Clark son is a Very Bad decision…. She NOT going to make it long.!!! She’s another going no where boring same ole same ole stupid talk show. We don’t need anymore talk show’s!!! SO FRICKEN BORING!! On DAYS THINGS ARE ALWAYS CHANGING THATS GOOD , NOT BORING!!!
I have been watching DAYS since I was a teenager in the 70s as many others have. It has had some strange storylines but when they get too strange I just do the easy thing and TURN IT OFF. I have started watching THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS because it is a little more believable. But, Alas, I have been turning that off lately. I agree totally I’ve watched it for over 50 years, BUT THE STORY LINES ARE JUST STUPID & UNBELIEVABLE
Days is a good soap, take Gabby off the show it maybe a better. The character she’s playing is evil.
What the show needs is writers that know the history of show, story lines of the characters. As a long time viewer it is frustrating to see story lines that does not make sense. Also to have they same story replayed multiple times. New characters are not always the answer. Give the characters you have better stories. When you decide to do a time jump age all kids not just some of them. I have been watching Days from the first show. got hooked and in the 70s recored when i wasn’t home . never miss a show.only soap that i watch.please don’t cancel.
After decades of watching DOOL I’m DONE. The writing over the past year or two has been terrible — same old torture themes, bringing back people from the dead, etc., and now it’s not sufficient to acknowledge gay characters — the theme is openly shoved in our faces almost daily. The writers have EVERY RIGHT to do that, and I have every right to stop watching. Marlena/Hatti, Kristin with Nicole’s mask and VOICE — RIDICULOUS. Congratulations…
I’m tired of great shows being cancelled. Been watching Days of our Lives, since the 70’s. When VCRs came along ….did not miss a show anymore!! Friends and I have decided if cancelled ….we will vote by never watching the replacement show! We will also Never buy a product supporting a new replacement show! If you protest by not buying products…..it speaks volumes!! So vote with your wallets. Don’t cancel Days. I have watched ever since I can remember. No matter where I move, if I can watch Days, I’m home. You’ll disappoint a lot of people if it’s canceled.
I have been watching Days since the very beginning. It was the only soap opera I would allow my daughter to watch because it seems to have a degree of modesty and class none of the other soaps exhibit. Days writers have historically been capable of doing sexy without it being trashy. My granddaughter now watches with me sometimes…school and activities permitting. The longevity of the characters make it feel as if you have brought them into your family. It’s relatable. I too have been watching DOOL forever. I love it. I know some story lines are over the top but they keep me coming back. Note. I also enjoy The Walking Dead.
