Welcome to Dietland. This week, AMC released new photos and the premiere date for their upcoming TV show.

Based on the novel by Sarai Walker, the dark comedy “follows Plum Kettle, ghost-writer for the editor of one of New York’s hottest fashion magazines, as she struggles with self-image and sets out on a wildly complicated road to self-acceptance. NEW YORK, NY – March 8, 2018 – AMC announced today, on International Women’s Day, the darkly comedic series “Dietland,” from executive producer Marti Noxon, will premiere with two back-to-back episodes on Monday, June 4 at 9:00pm ET/PT. The extraordinarily timed series unveils one woman’s journey to self-awakening while exploring a multitude of issues faced by women today – including patriarchy, misogyny, rape culture and unrealistic beauty standards. Based on Sarai Walker’s 2015 best-selling, critically acclaimed novel of the same name, “Dietland” stars Joy Nash (“The Mindy Project,” “Twin Peaks”) as lead Plum Kettle, and Golden Globe® and Emmy® Award-winner Julianna Margulies (“The Good Wife,” “ER”) as Kitty Montgomery. Marti Noxon (“Mad Men,”“UnREAL,”) serves as executive producer, writer, showrunner and directs multiple episodes on the series.

Filmed on location in New York City, the 10-episode series follows Plum Kettle, ghost-writer for the editor of one of New York’s hottest fashion magazines, as she struggles with self-image and sets out on a wildly complicated road to self-acceptance. At the same time, everyone is buzzing over news reports about men, accused of sexual abuse and assault, who are disappearing and meeting untimely, violent deaths.

“‘Dietland’ focuses on some of the important issues and conversations happening today and offers a witty and insightful look at the war of the sexes,” said David Madden, president of original programming for AMC, SundanceTV and AMC Studios. “I’m beyond thrilled to welcome powerhouse executive producer, writer and director Marti Noxon back to the AMC family and can’t wait for audiences to see her passion come to life, notably through the dynamic and nuanced performances from rising star Joy Nash and the incomparable Julianna Margulies.”

Joining Nash and Margulies are series regulars Robin Weigert (“Big Little Lies”) as Verena Baptist, Adam Rothenberg (“Ripper Street”) as NYPD detective Dominic, Tamara Tunie (“Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”) as Julia, Rowena King (“Shut Eye”) as newscaster Cheryl Crane-Murphy, Will Seefried (“The Deuce”) as Ben and newcomers Ricardo Davila as Kitty’s assistant Eladio and Tramel Tillman as Plum’s best friend Steven.

“Dietland” is a co-production between Skydance Television, where Noxon’s Tiny Pyro shingle has an overall deal, and AMC Studios. Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Marcy Ross are executive producers, along with Maria Grasso of Tiny Pyro, Bonnie Curtis and Julie Lynn of Mockingbird Pictures and Jackie Hoyt. Susie Fitzgerald and Ben Davis are executives in charge of production for AMC.”
