What’s next for The Last Ship? TVLine reports the TNT TV show might not be renewed for a sixth season.
The naval drama centers on the crew of the USS Nathan James, which must try to find a cure for a deadly virus that has wiped out most of the world’s population. The cast includes Eric Dane, Bridget Regan, Adam Baldwin, Charles Parnell, Travis Van Winkle, Marissa Neitling, Christina Elmore, Jocko Sims, Bren Foster, and Kevin Michael Martin.
On his Instagram, cast member Travis Van Winkle wrote “After 5 years, that’s a series wrap on @thelastshiptnt! An experience that taught me so much about being a man. This opportunity gave me the platform I needed to grow into who I am today. This will be my first birthday since 2012 coming up in November that I won’t be on set to celebrate.. crazy.. it’s 2017. Thanks to the @usnavy and to all the branches of the military for your service and dedication to make this world better. To the cast.. I love you. To the crew.. I love you. To the writers/producers.. I love you. Danny Green.. Thanks for the memories. Signing out.” The post was later deleted and the photo was reposted (see below).
TNT tells TVLine, “We shot two seasons simultaneously; the fourth is currently on the air and the fifth will return next summer… We greenlit the fifth with the idea that it could be the final season, however it’s far too early to make that determination.”

TNT is full of it – they know they are not going to give the show a sixth season, why play games with the viewers? There’s no way the numbers will get better and they just pulled the plug on MAJOR CRIMES…just be honest TNT and just announce season five is the last. They pre-planed it that way so why screw around the viewers. Announce at the end of this season Sunday with the previews for Season Five in 2018 it’s the “Exciting Final Season”….
I really want to see a season 6 and 7 of the The Last Ship. I have watched this series from the beginning and it is the best on TV. Please renew more seasons. The writers, and actors are awesome.

My husband and I watch this show every Sunday. We love the cast and the story behind The Last Ship. Would love to see a season 6 and 7.

I thought I read an article awhile back that season six had already been contracted even before season five premiered? Is six now in question?
It was renewed for season five before season four premiered (s4 is currently airing). It was not renewed for season six.

please, for real there are so few shows worth watching now days. Leave this show on and take off some of those stupid shows that you have to have a translator to figure out what kind of English they are speaking. It’s a good thing my kids are grown cause I’d give them a ” GIBBS ” for talking all that slang crap

why are you ASSUMING that it be cancelled? Is it you dont like it? or just trying to causing drama. It one of the better shows, but at times the writers seem to have a brain fart like last eps. Where they lose point for where they going on the series. But mostly the series is great. Si give it a break!

My son is on the USS Dewey, which is one of two ships used for exterior shots of the Nathan James. I’d really love to see more seasons of this show continue the story, but I’m not sure the writers know where to go, now that the cure was found. It seems they’re kind of stringing it out. Hope some inspiration hits them soon to make for a great arc.
Lord knows with the three Special Forces shows on right now (Six, Seal Team, The Brave), Last Ship needs something to stand out.
I would watch ten more seasons! I bought seasons 1-4 for my son for Christmas 2016. He’s ex-Army and loves it! Please keep it coming!
