From creator Joe Penhall, the Mindhunter TV show is inspired by the memoir of FBI veteran John Douglas, Mindhunter: Inside the FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit (written with Mark Olshaker). The crime drama centers on FBI Agent Holden Ford (Groff), who realizes the bureau needs a deeper understanding of violent psychopaths’ motivations.
Ford teams up with seasoned agent Bill Tench (McCallany) of the Behavioral Science Unit. Together, they tour the country to teach local police departments the agency’s newest approaches to law enforcement and investigation.
As Ford and Tench interview imprisoned felons, they realize these convicts can provide incredible insight. They have personal experience with those thought processes which lead to evil acts. Rather than accepting the romanticized notion of the serial killer as evil genius, Ford and Tench ask the question avoided by so many: what creates a psycho-sexual sadist?
Where the ambitious Ford is willing to empathize with these killers in order to protect people, his partner is more reluctant. Still, Tench defends their work by asking, “How do we get ahead of crazy if we don’t know how crazy thinks?”

The losers that thought that it was ok to put this show on “indefinite hold”, essentially ending it, is pathetic. This is an exceptional show and should have been given the attention it deserved.

there is so much left to say……..PLEASE GIVE US SEASON THREE!!!
They need to continue thru at least the book. They gave us a family situation with the agent’s wife and son. Then leave us with an empty house. The FBI interviews are incredible. The show has two seasons in it. The BTK killer wasn’t caught until 2005 so he is a special character.
Love the show – Hate that it stopped when it did – leaving the story unfinished. I “LOTHE” when decisions like this are made, leaving the viewer left with an unfinished ending. If you intend to end a show – don’t do it 1/2 azzed! Leaving the loyal viewer that lives the show … hanging with”no ending”. It’s just irresponsible & thoughtless. You love it when viewers are loyal to your show … but you in turn have no loyalty to your viewers – to at least giving them a proper ending to the show.
Love this show. Brings up the minds of the sadistic killer. Keep you on your toes- please renew and give a realistic ending
Best seasonal show on netflix! I really hope it is renewed and soon. I’m getting tired of great shows getting cancelled leaving you wondering what happened.
