Will there be a second season of The Alienist? Recently, the cast spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about the future of the TNT TV show.
Based on the Caleb Carr novel, the historical drama centers on Laszlo Kreizler (Daniel Brühl), an alienist, i.e. a criminal psychologist, who helps investigate a serial killer preying on boy prostitutes. The cast also includes :uke Evans, Dakota Fanning, Brian Geraghty, Douglas Smith, and Matthew Shear.
Season one of The Alienist already wrapped, but will TNT renew the series for season two? Luke Evans says the cast would happily return:
We all got on very well, and I think it was a very rewarding experience for all of us as actors. We’re very proud of what we’ve created. It was a limited series, and we’ve done the whole book, but if asked to go back, I think we’d all quite happily say yes.”

I found this program to be fascinating. Great cast, writing, settings. I never missed an episode. I think Ken Mitchell says it all and says it well. Nothing I can add except I’d like to see it brought back. It’s as good or better than any cable program out there.
I watched the entire series of “The Alienist” and truly enjoyed the acting, the story being put together in great detail, and the background filming! The background filming looked so real, that you felt that you were almost transported back in time to the late 1890’s. Also, Caleb Carr, author of “The Alienist” , wrote “The Angel of Darkness” which is a sequel which took place one year after our three heroes, Dr. Kreisler, John Moore, and Sara Howard, had solved the identity of the serial killer, John Beecham. I watched the 1st episode and was hooked, thoroughly enjoyed everything about this show! The cast, the filming, the storyline, the suspense and love period pieces of this time-frame. I’ve told everyone about the show please bring it back! I don’t know why you would cancel.
TNT would be absolutely ridiculous to not do a sequel to The Alientist. This program showed a lot of history as to how the police work today; such as fingerprinting, along with just too many things to list, that was shown in the series. The series was definitely rough to watch at times due to the content but it was absolutely brilliant at the same time. The main characters were extremely intelligent and actually made you look at yourself, your own past.
