Outlander: Season One Ratings

Outlander TV show on StarzStarz was very happy with the early reception of their new Outlander TV show so they gave it an early season two renewal. The cable channel has often given quick renewals but the series are then often cancelled after two seasons. Will Starz regret giving Outlander a second year order so soon? Would it have been cancelled if they had waited?

The Outlander series revolves around Claire Randall (Caitriona Balfe), a married combat nurse from 1945. She finds herself mysteriously thrown back in time, to 1743 Scotland, and forced to marry another man to save her life. A passionate affair is ignited. The rest of the cast includes Sam Heughan, Tobias Menzies, Graham McTavish, Gary Lewis, Annette Badland, Stephen Walters, Laura Donnelly, Lotte Verbeek, James Fleet, Duncan Lacroix, Roderick Gilkison, Simon Callow, Grant O’Rourke, Bill Paterson, and Simon Meacock.

The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.

I like Outlander tv verra, verra much. Often the TV series improves the motivation of the characters in comparison to the book. The love scenes are very passionate. The sets and scenery are lush. I wish, however, that the happy times could be developed more, and more time be spent enjoying them, before we get to the tough and tortuous stuff.

I hope the future TV series chooses to includes humour and continues the development of the relationships among the characters, as well.

The wait between season 1 and season 2 was very long, however. And, I understand, the wait for book 2, will be long, too. For those of us who read the books during the long hiatus, what are we to do the next time? I hope the PR people have planned many interviews and outtake videos in between. I’m asking Santa to bring me a set of the DVDs and a highland sweater for Christmas. I hope the Outlander humour and jokes and parodies will continue to be updated on the web.

I am still hoping to see the Fraser Family in America.

Why sad? I think Starz been great! We got 16 episodes for Season One and they’ve ordered another 13 episodes for S2. I don’t think HBO ever gives a show more than 10, so I don’t know why you would want HBO to take it over…unless you read that ridiculous rumor about it being cancelled. I really wish this site would take that article down. It confuses a lot of people and there’s no way that Starz is going to cancel Outlander! It’s their highest-rated show!
