Showtime is shipping back up to Boston. The network just announced they’ve renewed City on a Hill for a second season.
The drama series unfolds in 1990s Boston at the dawn of the “Boston Miracle.” Also known as “Operation Ceasefire,” the so-called miracle was named for the results of a problem-oriented policing approach that Boston implemented in the mid-90s to decrease gun violence. The cast includes Kevin Bacon, Aldis Hodge, Jonathan Tucker, Mark O’Brien, Lauren E. Banks, Amanda Clayton, Jere Shea, and Kevin Chapman.
Since its debut in June, City on a Hill has fared decently in the ratings. So far, the drama series is averaging a .06 rating in the 18-49 demo and 457,000 viewers, making it one of Showtime‘s highest-rated new series for the 2018-2019 season.

I’ve watched every Sunday. Biggest problem is everything revolves around Kevin Bacon. He always gets away with everything. Revolving a series around a single character only without consequences will always be a bust. No depth to the story and it’s predictable and boring. Don’t know if I’ll take the time for season 2.
Great series! Great actors & actresses!! I binge watched it in 3 days!! Loved it. Story line & everything. So glad to here there will be a Season 2. I will be waiting patiently….
Terrific series, really pleased with the renewal. Kevin Bacon & Jonathon Tucker are outstanding, & supporting cast provided some superb work to bring this series into the must watch category.

My wife and I live this show, we feel its well written and love the character’s. I started watching it with the whole fire station and went home and showed my wife and she loved it. All of us cant wait to see season 2.
am enjoying season one. and look forward to continuing with season 2.Always like crime show set in Boston .Kevin Bacon is surrounded by a solid cast and he reminds of many films that I have seen in his early days. He can still perform and his character in “City on the Hill” tells me he is in touch with making hard hitting dramas. -Peter
