Is this really the end for Everything Sucks!? Despite being cancelled by Netflix, the cast and producers of the TV series are trying for a second season.
Set in the 1990s, the coming-of-age comedy centers on a group of teenagers living in Boring, Oregon. The cast includes Peyton Kennedy, Jahi Di’Allo Winston, Patch Darragh, Claudine Mboligikpelani Nako, Sydney Sweeney, Elijah Stevenson, Quinn Liebling, and Rio Mangini.
Earlier, we reported that Netflix has cancelled Everything Sucks! after one season. On social media, several members of the cast and crew posted farewell messages and encouraged fans to campaign for a renewal:
Like you I’m heartbroken but I’m grateful I got to portray this complex & important character. Broken, closeted Kate blossomed into a teen icon. Love from fans & critics is testament to the power of her unique voice. I admire you for raising your unique voices. #iamkatemessner pic.twitter.com/Y5liRBZqCt

Had the “What Up With That” song from SNL stuck in my head for three days. This is a coping mechanism. Hurts but works.

It’s frustrating, but perhaps appropriate, that a show about a bunch of underdogs finds itself an underdog. If you root for those characters, and this show, please let everyone know: #RenewEverythingSucks

As the Principal of Boring High, I cannot tell you how much I will miss interacting with all of my budding young students. The halls of the school are now empty, save for only a pinecone. My daughter and I are home watching @theellenshow. (If you haven’t seen it, it’s terrific!) But there is a sadness lingering over us that will never resolve. Personally, I’ve always dreamed of being on a meaningful TV series. But one thing I could never anticipate was this amazing interaction with our fans. You saw us, but we also saw you. We heard your story echoing ours. And now, sadly, maybe it’s time for us to go out and write the next chapter of the collective story in our own lives. We will hold you up high in our hearts, the same way you have held all of us. BHS FOREVER. Class of ‘96! Aw snap. 💔
What do you think? Are you a fan of Everything Sucks!? Do you want a second season?
