canceled + renewed TV shows - TV Series Finale

Grey’s Anatomy: ABC Series Renewed for Season 12

by Trevor Kimball, May 8, 2015

Grey's Anatomy TV show on ABC: season 12McDreamy may be gone but Grey’s Anatomy isn’t going anywhere. The medical drama has been renewed for a 12th season on ABC.

Grey’s Anatomy continues to follow the lives of the medical staff at the fictional Seattle Grace Hospital. This season, the large cast included Ellen Pompeo, Patrick Dempsey, Justin Chambers, Chandra Wilson, James Pickens Jr., Sara Ramirez, Kevin McKidd, Jessica Capshaw, Sarah Drew, Jesse Williams, Camilla Luddington, Caterina Scorsone, and Jerrika Hinton.

The ratings for Grey’s Anatomy have come way down over the years but it’s still one of the alphabet network’s top shows. The current season has averaged a 2.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 8.24 million viewers. That’s down by 11% in the demo and down by 3% in viewers.

What do you think? Do you think the ratings will fall next season without McDreamy? How long can this venerable drama run?

It should continue, because Meredith is the Main Character. Her story can not end that way. I love the series and would love for it to continue. I’ve learned a lot from this show. *****

Thanks for the article. ABC Go offers some great shows and of course the ABC live feature. If you don’t live in US, you can use UnoTelly or similar tools to access it in your country.

I love Greys but what they should kill is the music. It is so loud that you can’t hear what is being said. Stop that annoying background music! You need closed captioned to know what they are saying. PLEASE!!!!

Closed captioning will sometimes mix words of the songs INTO the dialog, making it even harder to understand the scene!
But I absolutely loved the episode after Callie’s accident, with the cast singing.

Oh no, no cancelling. Haven’t missed a show. Come on poo people give it a chance. Meredith has been story to be told. Let’s nit throw in the towel. The others are growing on me. Still a great show. Let’s see how Meredith reinvents her life with her kids and without Derek. It’s all good the newbies from the last season’s are really grow ing on me. I do think without Ellen(Meredith that could kill the show!! Shonda do WHATEVER you must to keep her!

They should cancel the show, it’s not the same without Derek. What was the point of everything they went through for 10 years to kill him off in the end. Leaving Meredith with three kids to raise alone is just sad and painful to watch. These are very Poor writers that can’t come up with any new story lines. I don’t even want to see anything more from Shonda Rhimes.

Isabella it is painful and sad to see Meredith like that, but that’s real life. That’s what makes this show real. These actors go through changes, and pain. They make new friends and reinvent themselves. Merediths new life is going to bring Alot to the table. Give it a chance!

you could say the same thing about any love story.. real or made for tv.. what is the point?? what is the point of falling in love with someone and raising a family with them only to have one of you die??? but does that mean that if my wonderful husband dies and leaves me to raise our 3 children i should just roll over and end it as well??? or should i continue on and live my life for my children??? i personally hope i never have to deal with something like that but i hope that if i… Read more »

Why is it that everytime there is a love story the writers have to kill them off??They were the centre of the show.(Derek and Meredith)…I wonder if this is the beginning of the end.

The writing has been dreadful for years on this show.
The same recycled crap over and over again.
All they have ever done for ratings on this show is kill off great characters. Stop and think about it.
The writers are lazy.
Hardly any new interns. All of that Plus killing off PD is why this show has one season at most left in it.
If they want to keep going then new actors and writers please!
For the love of everything stop hiring actors with lisps!
A person needs subtitles to watch this show.

A real Grey’s Anatomy viewer would realise that killing Derek Sheperd is the best thing Shonda Rhimes could have done. Meredith is a better surgeon without him and we like Meredith when she’s fine, but we love her when she’s extraordinary. Meredith is extraordinary when she’s on top of her games in the field ( the O.R.) We all need some love in our lives and the MerDer story gave us that so Derek leaving because he cheated or whatever would have been a complete failure for us, the viewer. Killing him doesn’t crush our love life dreams, so Shona… Read more »

Ugh! I have never liked Meredith.
I am pissed they killed off Derek Shepherd but it’s more than that.
They have killed off one by one ALL of my favorite characters so I am done at the end of this season.
Now they are rushing things ahead all the while milking the DS death storyline.
Lazy writing!

The smartest thing Shonda Rymes could do after killing off PD is giving Merideth a baby from him. The story continues.

Although the numbers may be dropping, I suspect that if a higher age demographic were included, a lot more viewers are out there. Killing off Derek seems to be one of the most baffling plot twists I have ever experienced. If Patrick Dempsey had actually died, or if he suddenly wanted out of his contract, that would be one thing. Many are baffled by this decision, and whether or not, his absence hurts the series will remain an unknown. I will still watch because the other characters are strong, but his absence leaves a big hole.

Exactly right about the 49+ viewers. My mom raved about it so much that I started watching, and I’m not in the 18-49 age group myself.

Pauly, why on earth would you leave your rubbish comment about Resurrection here?!! Plus I don´t quite understand why you think: “Hmmm, medical drama, must be for youngsters”. But whatever, I love this show and even thought it will be odd without Derek I am excited about season 12.

Never watched it and don’t care to. Must be one of those “younger viewers shows.” I am very unhappy about Resurrection being cancelled. Knew it would be though as only the junk gets renewed. ABC took all my favorites off so I expected it.
