Good news for MacGyver fans! SpoilerTV reports CBS has ordered an additional episode for the TV series’ second season.
A reboot of the ’80s series, the action drama stars Lucas Till as a young Angus “Mac” MacGyver, who uses his vast scientific knowledge and extraordinary talent for unconventional problem solving to save the world. The cast also includes George Eads, Tristin Mays, Justin Hires, and Meredith Eaton.
With the additional episode, season two of MacGyver will now contain 23 episodes total instead of the standard 22. This is a good sign for the future of the CBS series, which has struggled in the ratings since season two debuted in September.

It is my favorite series. They all work so well together. They keep the theme of the original, with a truly delightfully Angus MacGyver, but updating it so imaginatively. Keep going strong.

CBS got lucky with “MacGyver.” Granted the original with Richard Dean Anderson will always be the best and the true MacGyver, this reboot isn’t bad. I think the only reason this reboot is working because of the characters of MacGyver, Dalton, Riley and the new boss (the chemistry of the cast). Besides a couple of MacGyverisms sprinkled within episodes, this show doesn’t have the feel or setting of the original show. To me, it’s another show entirely. A slightly different, yet true CBS crime drama that will rerun on ION Network and TNT someday.
Wonderful! Now switch Kevin can wait put that on there later time slot on Monday and CBS is altogether workable!
I grew up on the Original Series. Watching this New Version is Quite Good! The fact that Henry Winkler has revived this new one with Lucas Till and the cast is just Stunning! I hope CBS continues to let the creative juices flow and allow the characters to evolve for many years!
