There won’t be a sophomore season for Netflix‘s high school zombie series. The streaming service has opted to cancel the Daybreak TV series after one season of 10 episodes.
The Daybreak TV show stars Colin Ford, Alyvia Alyn Lind, Sophie Simnett, Austin Crute, Gregory Kasyan, Krysta Rodriguez, Cody Kearsley, Jeanté Godlock, and Matthew Broderick. Based on the graphic novel by Brian Ralph, the series follows Josh Wheeler (Ford), a 17-year-old high school outcast who’s searching for his missing girlfriend, Sam (Simnett), in a post-apocalyptic Glendale, California. He’s joined by a ragtag group of misfits that includes a pyromaniac 12-year-old Angelica (Lind) and Josh’s former high school bully, Wesley (Crute). The group tries to stay alive amongst the horde of gangs of evil jocks and cheerleaders turned Amazon warriors, zombie-like creatures called Ghoulies, and everything else this brave new world throws at them.
The series launched on October 24th of this year and, it would seem, didn’t attract enough viewers for Netflix to want to order a second season. The streaming service often makes a decision on a show’s fate some four or six weeks after a release. Series co-creator and executive producer Aron Eli Coleite revealed that the show had been cancelled via Twitter.

Honestly such an underated show on netflix, got to be one of my friends and I favourite netflix shows, and I think if they still decided to film and put out season two they could have attracted MANY more viewers, absoulutly guttered they cancelled the rest of the show
Loved this goofy fun series. Colin Ford and the rest of the gang are awesome. Casted FABULOUSLY. Hope you reconsider renewing DAYBREAK. Would love to see where it takes us. BIG mistake canceling it!!! HUGE!
So I’m currently sobbing… after the finale I googled when season two would come out And I’m so upset right now
NETFLIX MADE A BIG MISTAKE BECAUSE THIS SHOW WAS SO WELL DONE AND IS A LOT BETTER THAN THE SHOWS THEY’VE RECENTLY REBOOTED LIKE TV DRAMA.. LOL SHOULD’VE LEFT THAT ONE IN THE PAST. REBOOT DAYBREAK AND PUT UP SEASON 2. IT’S THE ONLY REASON WE STILL HAVE NETFLIX.
To bad, I was looking forward to another season. So much garbage programming on Netflix that keeps running year after year then cancel another entertaining show. Hope the writers and actors land in a good place. Thanks for what you gave.

That some BS , maybe its not everybody’s favorite genre or style. I know in the TV and movie buzz its all about ratings and critics. All those critics judge a movie on their opinions. I loved that show i’ ve watched it twice … If im paying to watch Netflix 17.00$ a month i want shows i enjoy watching like Day breakers so tired of watching really good shows anime, day breakers or whatever and all because they are not as popular with everyone, they get discarded I WANT Day Breakers!!!! Why …why…why are great series canceled? Tell me why Daybreak was canceled after one season, it was funny, there was action and just enough horror to keep you on the edge of your seat! The plot was even believable, a biological weapon triggered by a small nuclear explosion, enough so that you could believe a small amount of destruction and minimal fallout from radiation,which allows for survival of the anyone under age 18. So sad, The first few episodes were so good. Any show that can make a gymkata reference is awesome in my book. I was hoping the second season would go back to what the first episodes had. Good mix of comedy and zombies. Sad to see it go.
Man I finished the series in like 3 days, I wish they would make a season two
Netflix gets rid of good shows and keeps crap. Good thing I cancelled my subscription with them last year.
Guess I won’t bother watching it.
You should still watch it,and maybe enough voices can get it resurrected on another network.
