Another season of Murdoch Mysteries is coming, and this one will have an important milestone for the series during its airing. The season will return for season 13 in 2020, and the exact has now been revealed. The series will return with brand new episodes on February 1. The series will air back to back episodes on Saturday nights. The season has a total of 18 brand new episodes, which will air over a span of nine weeks.
Ovation revealed more about the return of the series in a press release. Check that out below.
“Ovation, America’s only arts network, has announced the season 13 premiere date for long-running fan favorite Murdoch Mysteries. The drama series is set in Toronto in the late 1890s and early 1900s during the age of invention, where Detective William Murdoch (Yannick Bisson), the methodical detective, and his impassioned wife Dr. Julia Ogden (Hélène Joy) enlist radical forensic techniques like fingerprinting and ultraviolet light to solve a range of gruesome murders. Airing back to back episodes all season long, the 13th season premiere of Murdoch Mysteries will air on Ovation starting Saturday, February 1 at 7pm ET / 4pm PT.
Season 13 of the internationally acclaimed series continues to explore the personal and professional developments in the lives of Detective William Murdoch (Yannick Bisson), Dr. Julia Ogden (Hélène Joy), Inspector Thomas Brackenreid (Thomas Craig), Constables George Crabtree (Jonny Harris) and Henry Higgins-Newsome (Lachlan Murdoch), and Detective Llewelyn Watts (Daniel Maslany) as they tackle Toronto’s toughest mysteries, from the serious and historic to the comical and unusual. This season also features the 200th episode of the series, which will air on Saturday, March 7th at 7pm ET / 4pm PT.
Murdoch continues his deft detective work and bolsters his investigations with new innovations including a “searchizer” device that measures facial features and matches them with existing police files. Unfortunately, he is still rattled by suspicions about Violet Hart’s (Shanice Banton) appointment to coroner and doesn’t completely trust her abilities or motives. The station also sees a new addition with Special Constable Robert Parker (Marc Senior), an African American former Pinkerton who went from suspect in a union murder to helping solve the case.
Murdoch Mysteries is based on Maureen Jennings’s popular Detective Murdoch series of novels and premiered in Canada in January 2008. Murdoch Mysteries is executive produced by Christina Jennings, Scott Garvie, Yannick Bisson, Hélène Joy, and Peter Mitchell, who also serves as showrunner, and produced by Stephen Montgomery and Julie Lacey. Murdoch Mysteries is developed and produced by Shaftesbury, in association with CBC, ITV STUDIOS Global Entertainment and UKTV, and with the participation of the Canada Media Fund, the IPF’s COGECO Television Production Fund, the Canadian Film or Video Production Tax Credit, and Ontario Creates. Shaftesbury Sales Company and ITV STUDIOS Global Entertainment hold worldwide distribution rights for the series.”
What do you think? Are you a fan of Murdoch Mysteries? Will you watch the new season?
This show is absolutely superb. It is brilliant, funny, touching at times, has emotional depth and the ensemble cast is great. We’ve been watching it during this pandemic time and are hooked. Thank you much to its creators and cast for your intelligent scripts and fine acting. We love you!
I love this show. It is charming, educational, funny and has great character connection.
I love this show watch every episode
I live in Houston, Texas and have not seen any of the new season, but I love the shows I have seen the last few years. I hope it will continue but if the new shows are not up to the same standard as the ones I have been watching in syndication, I hope they will have a chance to come back for a 2021 season and do better. Mr. Bisson is a breath of fresh air and being good to look at certainly is a plus
I’m not thrilled with the new series. I’ve so enjoyed the light drama and light humor of past seasons that this new Murdock is leaving me empty and not happy. I don’t look forward to watching new episodes as in the past.
I am very unhappy with the way season 13 is going. Homosexuality and all the goings on with Julia. You spent 7 years getting her and William together and then she goes off with the other Dr.
Murdoch Mysteries was so wonderful… until season 13. The characters & plots have increasingly become like caricature cartoons. Dr. Ogden giggles & titters inanely, Detective Watts grimaces & swoops around like a drunken Quasimodo, etc. etc. I have to quit watching as it’s become “painful”.
I totally agree. Very disappointed with the direction the show is going
Absolutely a great fan of Murdoch Mysteries! I have watched every episode repeatedly! I will be very disappointed when it ever ends! Please say that it will air forever!!!!
I love the Murdoch Mysteries sure do hope it’s back for Season 14 and more .
I love the Murdoch Mysteries can,t wait until new season but will watch the reruns until new mysteries
Disappointed with new season-sorry.
Dissapointed this season Same plotlines and maybe this happens when a main character narries but thanks anyway for all the good years.
Dear Yannick and Company, Have loved your series but this year am disappointed in the plot-lines and repetative and sometimes too little really new-perhaps it happens after a main character of a series marries, have seen this before. Thank you anyway for the many years of great shows. AMerican fan.
I LOVE the Murdoch Mysteries show! I watch it every Saturday when I can . If I can’t, I tape it so I don’t miss anything.
My favorite actor is the star lead. He is good at playing that role an being gorgeous doesn’t hurt!

My wife and I enjoy the show. We would like to continue watching it.
