In its first year, the Supergirl TV show was a middling performer on CBS. In its second season, after moving to The CW, it was one of that network’s best ratings earners, even though its numbers dropped by well over 50% in both the demo and total audience size. As the “littlest network,” The CW’s expectations differ, and its younger-skewing audience tends to avail itself of streaming and delayed viewing options more often. In its third season, will this superhero drama continue to soar? Will Supergirl be cancelled or renewed for season four? Stay tuned. *Status update below.
Based on the DC Comics character, Supergirl stars Melissa Benoist, Mehcad Brooks, Chyler Leigh, Jeremy Jordan, David Harewood, Calista Flockhart, Chris Wood, Floriana Lima, and Katie McGrath. The CW action-adventure centers on Kara Zor-El (Benoist), the cousin of Kal-El, i.e. Superman (Tyler Hoechlin). To remain safe from Krypton’s destruction, Kara grew up on Earth, as Kara Danvers, a human. For years, she kept her powers a secret. Now, as an adult, she works at CatCo Worldwide Media and also for the Department of Extra-Normal Operations (DEO), a super-secret government organization whose mission is to keep National City – and the Earth – safe from sinister threats.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
6/19 update: You can see the rest of the latest night’s ratings.

For comparisons: The second season of Supergirl on The CW averaged a 0.73 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.36 million total viewers (Live+SD).
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like the Supergirl TV series? Should it be cancelled or renewed for a fourth season on The CW?
*4/2/18 update: The CW has ordered a fourth season of Supergirl for the 2018-19 season. Details here.
I love that it is doing better after naysayers kept thinking it was doomed just because of the 0.5 at the start of the season. I love that it upsets dudebros that hate it for being a female-centric show and F/F shippers that hate it that Kara was attracted to / dated a man, that male characters like Mon-El / Winn / Jimmy existed at all.
Nice to see a slight uptick in ratings and total viewers.
Supergirl is still a good show however i think Lena (katie mcgrath) should be in the show more and findout Kara (Melissa Benoist) is supergirl
The reason I watched at all was Lena…
Now I just search on YouTube once in a while if she have a scene, then I will watch that scene…
A série não pode parar!!! O Brasil dá seu apoio à continuidade de Supergirl! Melhor serie, melhores atores e melhor produção!
just watched last weeks episode and im gonna try a few mire episodes its becoming like Arrow did, now there is reign she is just a bad supergirl just like there was in Arrow
stop bringing all these new characters, give Lena a bigger role im starting to lose intrest
So are you going to update the 3×07 ratings? It’s 0.53.
3×07’s unrounded is 0.53.
My bad. I didn’t realize it got posted.
I remember when Mon-El haters, namely the f/f shippers of Supercorp or just those types who hate any type of man, made it seem like the drop to a 0.5 rating was a good thing to laugh at, and could all be blamed on CW for introducing Kara and Mon-El as a couple, or daring to have any focus on a male character, because he’s “making her weak” (it’d be ok for them if it was a female partner though) and “stealing women’s spotlight” or whatever. Well, seems like the ratings are at least stable for now, and 2 out… Read more »
I have a lot of issues with the writers of this show and how they develop their plots, but this is the only place where I’ll ever get Melissa as Supergirl and a couple of other characters and I’ll watch as long as it’s on.
Amazing how rock steady the ratings have been. And for all the people claiming they are leaving the show, total viewers just keeps going up and up each week.
Way too left wing. If i want politics i can go to msnbc, fox, cnn, etc. too bad. i really liked the first season but need a break from politics.
Judging from the numbers they seem very constant but it’s a slow increase. But right now I feel like it has a 50/50 chance of making it to the next season. Because of the ratings.
Fortunately CW shows don’t depend solely on the ratings to get renewed.
If they did, Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow would be in worse shape.
Even shows like Crazy ex-Girlfriend and Jane the Virgin get renewed.
Please cancel this stupid show , I still don’t believe the plot when she got her suit. This is even an insult to people with brain.
Don’t watch it then. Problem solved. And the CW is not going to cancel their 4th highest rated show and 3rd most watched show that also makes a ton of money for Warner Bros. on Netflix. Unlike some commenters, Warner Bros. has brain.
