The FOX network hasn’t officially decided if 24 is being cancelled after this season.
However, many Hollywood insiders believe that, unless another network picks it up, Jack Bauer has seen his last day (on the small screen anyway).
A casting notice that went out this week seems to confirm that 24 is indeed coming to an end. EW reports that a casting call for a “U.N. Secretary General” was released and included this notation to agents, “These are the final episodes, so if some of your name people would like to do something on the show, this is the time for them to do it.”
What do you think? Do you think this means that the show’s over or is it just a casting director trying to book top stars for the end of this season?

OMG my husband and I race home every monday just to watch “24” It is now and always be our favorite show. I am a nurse for a living and my husband drives truck so believe me its no easy task to get home in time but we do it because we love Keifer and his hit show 24. We love Chloe and all of the other characters. If you take 24 off of the air we would be very saddened. Please Fox at least consider at least one more season. But by no means cancell the movie because we… Read more »
I have watched 24 since season one. I am so upset over 24 on fox, and Trauma on nbc. I hate that all the good shows are being cancelled. I can’t say there is one show that I have not sat on the edge of my seat with “24”. Hate that it is not going to be on.
Keifer Sutherland is amazing, what a sad year.
“24″ IS MY FAVORITE SHOW! It is a family event and I am heart-broken that this show of all shows is ending. In fact, it should be 2 hours every Monday night with fewer commercials, that’s how much I adore this show. It is unique with its “edge of your seat” drama and excitement. If the Producer (s) can’t think of anymore material to do a season 9, then hire new people who’d have the creativity, imagination and the tenacity to bring “24″ into the 2011 season!
as a big 24 fan, they need to tone the story line down what made it a success is that it was believable and personal. now it has to be thousands of lives at stake. get new writers and kick it down a notch. this crap they’re shoveling now is just aint cutting it.
You have to keep 24 on air. That is the BEST show on TV. No way it should be taken off the air. If anything get rid of all those REALITY shows. 24 is #1.
keep the show on!
No way will they cancel 24, its the best show on tv. I still to this day, jump out of my chair at some scenes. This show has to stay on.
I think that they should keep 24. It is one of the best shows on t.v. And I’ll admit some of the storylines have been really lame this year, but its still worth watching. Why don’t they give more screen time and/or more things to do with some of the characters that have been on past seasons like, give Chloe more to do and bring back Kim. And stop focusing on characters like Dana Walsh, her character and storyline is getting really annoying.
The show 24 is one of the best shows ever. Each hour it keeps you wondering what was going to happen next. When I started watching this show it was on dvd it kept my attention that I stayed up all night just to find out was going to happen next.I say keep the show going until at least it hits 10 seasons or more.
I hate to admit it but 24 has gotten sort of dry as of late. The best seasons (2,4,5,7) are behind us. No one wants it to drag out beyond its welcome. Yes the ratings are good, but why not end on a high note? This season definitely is not the worst (6 will always hold that right even if millions of fake people died in a nuclear attack) and I can foresee any more seasons as beating a dead horse. Let the crew end the series, and make that movie Jack always wanted. No one wants to let go… Read more »
My husband & I love 24. Please don’t cancel it.
24 is the hottest and best show out there and every seaason gets better and better There is no way the ratings went down so Fox dont cancel the show and writers bring back Tony He is alive and there can be a story there
24’s own Howard Gordon has already said (the actual day of that release, if I’m not mistaken) that 24 isn’t down and out yet. There’s still a chance. Whatever’s happening behind the scenes has been happening for at least a week or two, and Fox has no reason not to announce the end of one of its once highest-rated shows if for no other reason than to bolster end of season ratings, so that chance isn’t even necessarily as slim as people have been made to believe by the media saturation on the subject. Still, they know there’s a decent… Read more »
