Blue Bloods has now ended its 11th season on CBS, and the season finale could have served as the end of the series. The cop family drama was renewed for a 12th season last month but, in late 2020, showrunner Kevin Wade believed the end might be near.
Wade said the following about the CBS series in an interview with Deadline:
“We were told pretty early on, I think before Thanksgiving that our season finale would be the last two episodes and would air back to back which I immediately took as they’re planning to wrap up the series … So I started to think about how do we do something that could serve as a season finale but also if need be as a series finale.
We went back to the end of the first season where all the Reagans became involved in finding out and catching and bringing to justice the bad cops who killed Joe Reagan who is of course, Joe Hill’s father. And it was kind of a callback to that, just in case it was a series finale it would have a circle to it.”
The finale was completely filmed before news of the renewal was released last month. Blue Bloods will return for season 12 in the fall.
What do you think? Are you a fan of Blue Bloods on CBS? Do you plan to watch the new season next fall? Would the episodes that aired last Friday have satisfied you as a series finale?
BEST SHOW ON TV! excited for the new season in the fall!
I enjoy the show as well but as to the best no sorry it is not.
Yes! I absolutely will watch every episode of season 12 and beyond! The best show on tv. Morals, substance, character, … Hoping the reintroduction of Joe jr will propel this to the next generation of a Reagan CO.
I agree best show ever. So happy it was renewed.
Best show on TV. Never end it please!!!
Love Blue Bloods, for many years (how can you NOT like Tom Selleck!!). So glad renewing for season 12!
Of course I’ll watch season 12!!! I wouldn’t miss it for anything!! Love this show!!! Wish we had more tv shows like this!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

It was a good episode but i would have like more closer for the family. Danny finally get over Linda. Erin find someone. Jamie and Eddie welcome a family. And Frank retire.
BLUE BLOODS YES
I love this show and never want it to end. Thank you for renewing
yES!!! best show EvER.
clean, it’s about a family. it includes religion. the good guy wins. we are in love with all the Reagans.
In all fairness, they never told Wade they WERE going to end the series this year or NOT back in November – The show wasn’t even back on air (Season 11 started in December) when they told him the year-ender was going to be a two-parter. CBS was just laying out the season from that point onward – they knew what they needed – except for NOLA:LA which had 18 episodes, and MacGyver which had 15 episodes the rest of the CBS STUDIOS show had 16 episodes orders – so the network knew how they were going to program Fridays… Read more »
So glad (I’d I am understanding this) Blue Bloods ID keeping it’s place!!Hate they canceled NOLA:LA, MACGYVER, NCIS:NO….Meaning they will be replaced with more immature, nasty language, not interesting, no plot programs that most mature people will not watch. Heyyy leave something for adults!!
I hear what your saying but if you are in the business generally that is what happens. They just don’t tell you most of the time just look at all the shows being cancelled! Soon it will make a difference cable will be gone very soon, everyone will be streaming. Then the Networks will care about those who are not 18-39.
Love this show! The season finale was GREAT! Joe really IS a Reagan! I would like to see Danny get involved with Maggie, the medium that has helped him on a few cases and got him to take his wedding ring off and re-join the living, I think they’d make a great couple!
So happy it was renewed. And a great season (thank goodness only that) ender
