Has CBS killed BrainDead? Network chief Glenn Geller recently discussed the show’s status at the TCA summer press tour.
From Robert and Michelle King, the dark comedy stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead as a young Washington DC staffer who begins noticing something wrong with the politicians on Capitol Hill—mysterious bugs are eating their brains. The cast also includes Aaron Tveit, Tony Shalhoub, Nikki M. James, Johnny Ray Gill, Charlie Semine, and Jan Maxwell.
At the TCAs, Geller said no decision has been made yet regarding BrainDead‘s future:
For all you @BrainDeadCBS fans, don't hold your breath waiting for a pickup commitment today; they've made no decision as of yet. #TCA16

So far, the show hasn’t performed as well in the ratings as many of CBS’ other series. Seven episodes into season one, BrainDead is averaging a .46 in the 18-49 demo and 3.054 million viewers.
What do you think? Are you watching BrainDead? Would you like another season?
Awesome Show … So Much Fun …
I agree with Helen’s comments. I never saw it before today but most definitely worth a season 2. Good writing, good acting and suspenseful.
I love Braindead! I just discovered it on streaming and watched the whole series in 2 days! I hope they renew it. It is sooo fun!
I love this show! I laughed so hard at last weeks episode I had to pause and rewind like 5 times.
Great satire is so hard to do; this show is deftly crafted by two of the best in the business. It’s delightfully different. Hope to see many seasons to come.
I just watched the whole first season last night. It was great! Very witty, good acting, likable characters. I hope there will be more seasons!
I absolutely love BrainDead. Mb ratings low cuz of summer n Olympics.
Great, totally original, science-fiction, political-satire series that may actually give us some incite into what is ‘wrong’ with Donald Trump (bugs in his brain?). If CBS does not continue this series, then their management is “brain dead” along with other free, TV networks and their mindless, so-called “reality shows”.
I watch it on Amazon Prime and I Love, Love, Love, it! Its funny and relevant to today. If it not being watched it because many people may not know about it yet. I say give it a chance!
This show moves the story forward so quickly, we can’t wait for the next episode. It is a unique, very funny, edge of your seat show. We love it!
At the moment it was first announced, I found myself wanting to like “BrainDead” and planning to stick with it for its entire 13-episode run. After the first few episodes, I was disappointed to find out that “BrainDead” was underperforming in the Nielsen Ratings, and with the move to Sundays, things just got worse for the series, with its most recent Sunday airing (on August 7) drawing below 2 million viewers. I think that is just because of the Rio de Janeiro Olympics. I wanted to see “BrainDead” succeed, but the ratings it has gotten so far are just dooming… Read more »
Engrossing, timely, well written and acted; it SHOULD be continued!
Love this show – well written, directed and acted and the only network program we watch.
Freshest, funniest and brightest comedy to hit the airwaves in a very long time. A bif YES to season two.
We just started watching Season 1 on Amazon Prime. We love it. CBS normally gives a show a chance. Hope they do it here.
