Discovery has cancelled Dirty Jobs after eight seasons on the air. Mike Rowe announced the news today in a HuffPost article.
The show host notes that, without fail, anytime that Dirty Jobs was off the air for a couple months, he’d be asked if the show has been cancelled.
Rowe said, “Over the years it’s been my pleasure to assure anxious fans that Dirty Jobs is coming back for another season. And indeed, we always have. Alas, this year, I’m afraid I cannot dispel the rumors. A few weeks ago, I was officially informed that Dirty Jobs had entered into a new phase. One I like to call, ‘permanent hiatus.’ Or in the more popular industry vernacular, canceled.”
Rowe goes on to thank the folks at Discovery, his crew, and loyal viewers.
Dirty Jobs debuted in 2003 has run for 169 episodes. In the last season, the setting focused on Australia and was advertised as Dirty Jobs Down Under. The most recent installment aired on September 12th.
What do you think? Will you miss the Dirty Jobs TV series? Would you like to see it return some day?
I will miss it. It was a pleasure to watch the antics of Mike and the cameramen.
I am so so sorry to find out that dirty jobs has been cancelled. I have watched it everyday for so long. I will truly miss it. And just as I was going to give Mike a couple of ideas for dirty jobs that I have had the displeasure to be acquainted.
I would love to see it return sometime.
Please bring back Dirty Jobs. My wife and I love it and even though Mike Rowe is corny, we like him too. Cancel some other worthless show but we like watching Dirty Jobs; besides “somebody’s gotta do it”.
Want it back! Hey check with the San Angelo city for cleaning all the canals behind houses! They may want to do it for it belongs to them….also it goes into the lake.
Anyway, I can’t think of anything else but WE WANT YOU BACK!
THERE MUST BE MORE DIRTY JOBS!
We will miss this great man who is humble enough to do anything….. We want him back!
I do know here in San Angelo TX, there is a canal behind our house that runs all the way to the lake and it is filthy, full of weeds, animals, fishy stuff, and you name it. We would love to clean it but do not have the equip. and wondered if maybe the city would like to get Mike to maybe do this! Don’t mention me or I could be in trouble for saying it is so dirty but it is!
/sincerely
Love Dirty Jobs. Will Miss it very much .
My whole family watched “Dirty Jobs,” and we all had our own crushes on the glorious Mike Rowe. 🙂 One of the most interesting, engaging and HILARIOUS shows on TV; we’d never seen anything like it, and we’re so very sad that it’s gone. If it resurfaced, we’d be glued to it just like before… 🙁
Dirty Jobs has provided 8 wonderful years of family entertainment. BRING DIRTY JOBS BACK. Mike Rowe is the best of the best on TV. I will miss the show.
