In the show, Homicide Detective Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli) learns that it’s his destiny to protect the populace from sinister storybook characters that have infiltrated the real world. The first season of Grimm typically airs Friday nights at 9pm on the NBC network.

Despite airing opposite the seventh game of the World Series on FOX, the series had a very positive debut. Year-to-year, NBC was up by 350% in the demo when compared to last year’s School Pride (0.6 in the demo). If most of these viewers keep returning week after week, NBC could easily have the highest-rated show of the night. It should also be noted that the debut of Grimm outperformed most other NBC shows which have the advantage of airing on better nights.

Note: These ratings are collected by the Nielsen company and are the final national numbers. These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings and are reported on by most other outlets. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
