Peter Brown, star of ’60s western series Lawman and NBC’s Laredo, passed away this week, Variety reports. He was 80 years old.
Brown played Deputy Marshal Johnny McKay on Lawman, which ran on ABC from 1958 to 1962.
Born in New York City, Brown got his start in acting while serving with the Army in Alaska. Soon, he began to study acting in Los Angeles and signed a contract with Warner Bros.
During the late ’50s and ’60s, Brown acted in several television series, particularly westerns like Maverick, Cheyenne, Lawman, and Laredo.
From the 1970s onward, he turned his attention to soap operas, appearing in Days of Our Lives, The Young and the Restless, and in the ’90s, The Bold and the Beautiful.
Brown made his last television show appearance on a 2000 episode of JAG.

I am glad that I have the complete series of both Lawman and Laredo, plus numerous pictures. I am sadden that everyone from the Lawman is now gone. what an incredible man he was.
Mr. Brown, you a missed. Heaven has a new Angel and a Lawman is the sky. God Bless
Liked Peter Brown back in the day. He was cute and enjoyable to watch in the western he appeared in. But, at 80, he had a good life (with 5 wives).
This was a great actor and one of my favorites. So sad to see him go but I am sur he is on that big screen in heaven. He will be missed.
I regret that, I grew up watching shows like Maverick, Bonanza, Laredo, Colt 45, SugarFoot, Wagoon, etc.etc…”golden era”
I loved his characters in Laredo and Lawman. Great loss.
I loved Peter Brown’s character in Laredo. I watch the reruns every chance I get.
