While some shows are getting orders for additional episodes, Numb3rs has just had its number cut by CBS. How does this bode for the drama’s chances for a seventh season?
As Friday night viewers know, Numb3rs revolves around an FBI agent (Rob Morrow) and his genius brother (David Krumholtz) who helps solve cases with mathematics. The cast also features Judd Hirsch (as their father), Alimi Ballard, Dylan Bruno, Navi Rawat, Aya Sumika, and Peter MacNicol.
The series is currently in its sixth season, having debuted in January 2005. For the show’s entire run, it’s been a staple of CBS’ Friday night schedule in the 10pm position.
In its first season, Numb3rs averaged a 3.2 rating in the demo and 11.1 million viewers. In season two, the show’s ratings rose to an average rating of 3.3 and 11.7 million viewers. Overall viewership has dropped since then. Last season was watched by an average of 9.75 million and the demo was 2.2.

This season however has been a different story. Numb3rs’ numbers are way down. It’s fallen all the way down to a 1.7 rating in the all-important demo. Overall viewership has also dropped to an average of 7.9 million viewers.
If you look at these figures, it’s not hard to understand why CBS has decided to cut this season’s order from 22 to 16 episodes. In addition, the network already has a couple other dramas that can take its place, including Flashpoint — a show that’s cheaper and already proven to work on Friday nights.
What does this mean for Numb3rs’ future and its chances for a seventh season? The episode cut doesn’t mean anything in itself but the ratings that caused it certainly do. The show is already in syndication and, now in its sixth year, the show is quite difficult to produce. Unless the ratings return to their previous level, the show will surely be cancelled.
What do you think? Would you be sorry to see the show cancelled or would you like to watch a seventh season?

Please don’t cut. This is one of the great ones!
PLEASE don’t cancel Numbers it is one of the best shows on television! I know the ratings might be down but stop playing games with the cast of characters pick a cast and stick to it as long as Dylan Bruno is one of the regulars.
Hope there is 7th season CBS and the other networks need to learn about viewing numbers more people now use DVR then watch real time to the over priced asses in charge think before cancelling shows or cutting short
This is a wonderful show. My 17 year old loves it! He was studying physics and actually learned something that had been puzzling him from one of the episodes! He then created a small program to help him in his physics class! You can learn and get entertained at the same time! You can’t beat that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I also love this show and will miss watching it if it is cancelled. Friday on CBS is my favorite tv night.
I can’t believe that CBS would cancel an intelligent show like numb3rs and keep crap like Rules of Engagement. this is an excellent show with and exceptional crew. Wake up CBS, shows like Rules of Engagement and Medium are not what the ppublic wants
I would really miss this show if it were gone. No more CBS on Friday nights for me.
This is one of the smartest shows on TV. Maybe the only one. Please don’t cut it!
Please bring this show back for another season. We love the story line and are always amazed at the way Charlie makes complicated mathematics fun.
No! Do not cancel Numb3rs. It is one of the most intelligent shows on the air. I love the cast and the writers are fantastic. There are very few shows that I look forward to watching every week but this has been one of them. I would greatly miss it. If CBS does cancel it, I hope it is picked up by another network, but if they do then they are crazy!
DO NOT CANCEL one of the best shows on CBS or tv for that matter. My wife and I are still upset that Cbs clowns canceled Moonlight. An intelligent and believable vampire show Now they are thinking about cancelling Numbers another extremely intelligent and original series. What next NCIS?
don’t cancel. my husband and i love it.
This is my favorite show. I am so sad.
please don’t cancel this show. it is wonderful.
This show is one of the best on television. It makes Friday night a treat and an excuse to open a good bottle of wine. I have lost my taste for American television. I guess I am down to one show now, NCIS. Thank God for BBC with shows like Dr. Who, Torchwood, Life On Mars, Murphy’s Law, Murder City, and New Tricks. Keep on streaming Netflix! Someone needs to pickup Numb3rs.
