Stuart Fails to Save the Universe will return. HBO Max has renewed the spin-off of The Big Bang Theory for a second season. The series’ first season is currently airing, with the season one finale set for September 24th.
Kevin Sussman, Brian Posehn, Lauren Lapkus, and John Ross Bowie star in the series, which follows Stuart as he tries to fix things after he breaks a device Sheldon and Leonard created. Others from The Big Bang Theory have made guest appearances.
HBO Max revealed the following about the renewal:
“From creators Chuck Lorre, Zak Penn, and Bill Prady, the first season is HBO Max’s second-biggest comedy launch ever globally.
Fans and critics alike have raved about the first season. Shortly after debuting in Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con, STUART FAILS TO SAVE THE UNIVERSE was minted “Certified Fresh” on Rotten Tomatoes. Slate hailed it as “the most dynamic sitcom that has ever existed” and NPR called it “relentlessly, inventively funny.” The Wall Street Journal deemed it “otherworldly hilarious” while CBR noted it’s “a hysterical must-watch.” TVLine noted it’s “bold, funny, and ambitious” and TheWrap called it “addictive” and “brilliant.”
Season 1 logline: Comic book store owner Stuart Bloom is tasked with restoring reality after he breaks a device built by Sheldon and Leonard, accidentally bringing about a multiverse Armageddon. Stuart is aided in this quest by his girlfriend Denise, geologist friend Bert, and quantum physicist/all-around pain in the ass Barry Kripke. Along the way, they meet alternate-universe versions of characters we’ve come to know and love from “The Big Bang Theory.” As the title implies, things don’t go well.”
Amy Gravitt, EVP, HBO Programming, Head of HBO & HBO Max Comedy Series, also spoke about the renewal. She said, “We’re delighted with how this hilarious, genre-bending show from Chuck, Zak, and Bill has connected with the audience, both devotees of ‘The Big Bang Theory’ and new fans alike. Along with everyone else, we can’t wait to see the worlds they conjure for these beloved characters next season.”
What do you think? Do you enjoy this HBO Max series? Are you glad it has been renewed?

I enjoyed and it made me a great laugh and I’m looking forward for more seasons.
i love all TBBT spinoffs but i just dont like this one. its not funny. im just watching it for the cameos.
Wow someone is butthurt and down voted you both. The show is good and even with a run length that can be as low as 15 minutes it is an entertaining show. Seeing the original cast and a few guest cast from the big bang theory is awesome. The problem I think people have is with the AI or CGI opening. Most people who complain about AI don’t even know what AI is. Anything nowadays if it looks off or just bad CGI is labeled as AI. Even older shows they claim AI when AI wasn’t even around when certain… Read more »
I think Stuart is superb. It’s exactly the right story for the actors. Keep it up and we won’t miss the other bunch. I love Stuart, Bert, Denise, Gary, Bawry.
What a great vehicle for this cast! I’m loving it! Love that some of the former Big Bang cast members reprised their rolls to contribute to the success of this show…
As a certified nerd and fan of Marvel comics, I applaud this show! It’s fresh, funny, and is the type of quality show you’d expect from Chuck Lorry. Very happy that it’s been renewed for a second season. In a world of bland, unfunny comedies, this show is very welcomed!
