TV show description:
This psychological thriller begins when a notorious serial killer, Joe Carroll (James Purefoy), escapes from death row. The FBI calls in former agent Ryan Hardy (Kevin Bacon) to consult on the case. Having since withdrawn from the public eye, Hardy was responsible for Carroll’s capture in 2003. Carroll had murdered 14 female students on the Virginia college campus where he taught literature.
Hardy is a walking textbook of all-things Carroll and knows him better than anyone else. He may be Carroll’s only psychological and intellectual match. But the Ryan Hardy who broke the Carroll case years ago isn’t the same man today. Wounded both physically and mentally by his previous pursuit of this serial killer, it’s been a long time since Hardy has been in the field. Could this be his redemption?
In contrast to the original investigation of years ago, Hardy isn’t calling the shots anymore. He works closely with an FBI team, which includes young, razor-sharp Mike Weston (Shawn Ashmore) and FBI Specialist Debra Parker (Annie Parisse), who’s brought in to lead the investigation into Carroll and his followers — serial killers that secretly live among us.
Although Weston seems to idolize Hardy, most of the team considers him to be more of a liability than an asset. But Hardy proves his worth when he uncovers that Carroll was covertly communicating with a network of followers in the outside world. It quickly becomes obvious that he has more planned than just a prison escape.
The FBI’s investigation leads Hardy back to Claire Matthews (Natalie Zea), Carroll’s ex-wife and the mother of their young son, Joey (Kyle Catlett). Close during Hardy’s initial investigation, Hardy turns to Claire for insight into Carroll’s next move.
The tension rises when Carroll’s accomplices kidnap his intended last victim (Maggie Grace) a decade earlier. Hardy becomes ever more determined to end Carroll’s game when he realizes that the psychopath intends to finish what he started.
The drama follows Hardy and the FBI as they are challenged with the ever-growing web of murder around them. It’s all orchestrated by Carroll who dreams of writing a novel with Hardy as his protagonist. Since anyone anywhere could be one of Carroll’s serial killer followers, Hardy and the FBI have a hard time knowing who they can trust.
Episode #45 — The Reckoning
The FBI hunt for Theo continues and the stakes are higher than ever as some of their own come under attack. As suspicions rise, alliances are shaken and no one is safe in the series’ harrowing final heart-stopping moments.
First aired: May 18, 2015.
What do you think? Do you like The Following TV series? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season?
Who would cancel a show that’s great? at lease give an ending to the series.
Best show ever, Hope it gets another season so the loose strings can be tied up.
My daughter and I loved this show, we looked forward to this every week, I just cant believe, fox did this, they signed a five year deal with Kevin Bacon, and he did his part every week , Fox should have honored the deal , another great show canceled
I cannot believe FOX cancelled this show. Well, just goes to show you FOX has no clue!!!! The following was one of the better shows on TV lately. These guys are retarded.
bring it back what are they crazy
It should be renewed its left us hanging and it was one of the better shows on TV
I wish this show was not canceled, one hell of a good show. I think te coroner should e found dead, and Joe’s body missing. Since Joe nd Ryan made that show, when he ws put to death it klled the show for me, but one of his followers could have exchangd the drugs and put hi out for a ride to the coronor’s office and who knows he could have excaped.
far too good to b cancelled….shame on FOX!!!
My best friend would never watch a show like the Following because it was too scary. I wish she would have, to be more aware of society nowadays, because she was brutally murdered. I wonder if she watched a scary show like this, maybe she’d still be here.
The best series in YEARS. TOO BAD FOR FOX. Didn’t know a good thin when they had it.
You are sooooooo right! They are really blowing it with this one! I could probably find a handful of dimwit shows they could of cancelled instead.
REALLY??? I AM SO DISAPPOINTED! !! LOVE THIS SHOW! THEY SUDDENLY JUST TAKE A BREAK. THEY CHANGE THE WAY THE SEASONS ARE, OUT THE BLUE, YOU WAIT AND WAIT, FIND SOMETHING TO WATCH INSTEAD. THEN THEY NEVER ADVERTISE THE RETURN DATE AND YOU ARE LUCKY IF YOU CATCH IT COMING BACK ON TIME. THATS A REAL EASY WAY TO LOSE VIEWERS.
I love the show and the characters. I really don’t want to see the show be canceled. The Theo character truly has made me cringe and also had me feel bad for him at times. Hardy’s needs a small happy ending.
I love the show and don’t want to see it canceled.
I guess great writing and great actors are not enough! People can’t handle a complicated story line. I hope that the series is picked up by another network or FOX sees the light.
I think the following should be renewed! Finally a tv show actually worth watching instead of some of these ridiculous reality shows, why not cancel them? And let’s face it…Kevin b Bacon is a bad Ass!
Liked it very much, too bad we will be swamped with more variety and reality shows. More crap!
