Sadly, the Visitors aren’t among us any longer. After two short seasons, ABC has cancelled their V TV series.
A reimagining of the original V, this series tells the tale of what happens when an advanced alien race arrives of Earth professing their desire to help mankind. Fortunately, not everyone trusts them. The second season features the talents of Charles Mesure, Elizabeth Mitchell as Erica Evans, Joel Gretsch, Laura Vandervoort, Logan Huffman, Morena Baccarin, Morris Chestnut, and Scott Wolf.
For season one, V ended up averaging a 2.25 rating in the coveted 18-49 demographic and 5.7 million average viewers. It was “on the bubble” but ended up being renewed for a 13 episode second season. The network was hoping that the show would catch on and the ratings would improve.

ABC later reduced the episode order to just 10 installments and debuted them mid-season. Unfortunately, ABC’s gamble didn’t pay off. Season two of V ended up averaging only a 1.9 in the demo and 5.49 million viewers.
Though the network and producers maintained that the show was still in contention for next season, it was clear that there would only be a third season of V if ABC was willing to gamble once again. In the end, they weren’t.
ABC confirmed today that V has been cancelled after two seasons and 22 episodes. The series finale aired on March 15th and, unfortunately, there were lots of unresolved cliffhangers. Hopefully the producers will someday share what they had in mind for season three.
What do you think? Are you sad that V won’t be returning next season? Why do you think the series didn’t catch on?

every sci fi show gets canned by tv execs its pointless following shows , i binged watched this and cancelled how disapointing , this maybe a series cancelled 6 years ago , but the format for tv shows remains the same …one season and cancel , two seasons and cancel….. american tv execs never have the faith in bringing quality tv anymore , its all this reality bollox or pop idol crap…. sooner or later people wont bother watching tv anymore …i mean whats the point ? and this comes from the UK my other question where was the V… Read more »
Yes the series should have been continued as it was a awesome si-fi story. I just found this series on amazon prime video and enjoying the series till i get tonknow that there is no season 3. This is really sad wish i could see the whole story someday.
I never even knew it was on! I found it today on the CW Seed app. There was poor advertising and marketing for the series obviously,
The reason why it never caught on is due to poor timing of when it was aired, lack of advertising for series, and needed to be available online. I believe if they continue making series’s AND make it available online it would do well. Also, for online app ( whatever companies pick this up, should allow for a alert when new show comes available)
There was a time i used to get so into these sci-fi series i would rush out and buy each season as it came on he shelf, but it dawned on me pretty quick that i was buying the seasons and they were getting scrapped, this is happening too often, the time i stopped buying was when they scrapped Terminator The Sarah Connor Chronicles,i stopped buying after that,it was a complete waste of money,so now i wait i watch to see if its going to have an end to it,if they finish it off and i liked it then i go and buy… Read more »
Oh yeah.. Cancel the good shows to make room for some nasty crap, reality crap kardasian crap, There are no series shows left that I feel comfortable watching with kids anymore.. Our t.v. stay off most of the time!
Good job ABC..NBC.. Not to bright!
I think that’s pretty poor. Of a tv station or producer or whoever you want to blame! You could at least make a short season to finish it off.. I’m so mad ..I’m just done watching. ABC, NBC! You guys suck,. SuCh at least had the courtesy to shoten up the ending on being human, instead of leaving those who were watching it, hanging! When it comes to series from CBS..NBC.. From now on.. I’ll wait until the entire show is in Netflix! Heck.. I didn’t even know V season 2 aired.. Until I seen it referred to online somewhere.… Read more »
I am just about fed up with CW. Every show thats actually of any merit or quality is canceled. I have no idea what viewers have in common with the shows CW produces. Most are ridiculous. I could name them but why. If CW cared about its viewers just a bit more, they would at least give a proper conclusion in consideration of the viewers who actually appreciate quality. /rant
please please we want season 3 ..V is the best sci- fi tv series i had ever seen . why did u cancel it ? its amazing so amazing .. wish to release it . thanks
please . please we want season 3 .. its the best scie fi series i had ever seen . why did u canceled it . why specially it ? . Hope to listen and release it .
V111 should be made as V11 ended without a proper conclusion. V11 was very well produced and all scifi enthusiasts feel let down, please ABC have a re think.
Excellent show and actually hugely popular in uk. Miss this show so much.
Or at least make one more episode to properly finish it. The last episode made it seem like the visitors won unlike in the 1980’s version where they did not win.
I remember watching the original series and loved it when the new v came out i couldnt wait. Now after only two seasons its canceled never end a great show with an unanswered cliffhanger. do a movie that gives the fans closure. Thhink about it we all need closure. Im wanting to know whats next at least the original had an ending.
It was the best sci-fi, I loved it- they always cancel the shows I love-idiots!!!!
