Beowulf shall return to the Shieldlands, no more. C21 Media reports ITV has cancelled its Beowulf TV series after the first season. The news that Beowulf would get the axe, first broke in February.
In the US, Beowulf airs on Esquire. A fantasy drama, based on the Old English epic poem, the series stars Kieran Bew in the title role. William Hurt, Joanne Whalley, and Ed Speleers also star.

ITV had high hopes for the £17m (US$23m) adaptation of the epic poem but the programme ultimately failed to achieve high viewing figures.
An ITV spokeswoman told C21 this morning: “ITV regularly refreshes its drama portfolio and consequently Beowulf: Return to the Shieldlands isn’t returning to the channel.”

Can’t believe season 2 of Beaowulf is cancelled. If it’s viewers you need.. put it on the Sy-FY channel in the U.S. My lady and I LOVE THE BEOWULF TV SERIES!

Another example of ITV not knowing what appeals to their viewer!! I really enjoyed series one and have been waiting in eager anticipation of Series two

I cried when I read Beowulf is cancelled. I don’t watch much TV but when Beowulf began i fell in love with everything about it. And all the characters were so interesting. I saved the last show of the 1st season so I could watch it prior to watching season 2. I believe you need to rethink cancelling. ..Big Fan. ..so sad

Such a great show! With all the craep that is on tv and keeps getting renewed season after season, it’s such a shame that quality shows get cancelled. It obviously didn’t have the gratuitous sex to stay on the air. I’m so upset.
Beowulf was great show they should bring it back
Poor ripoff of Game of Thrones. Little similarity to the epic poem. Didn’t deserve to play out Season 1. Won’t be missed.

Beowulf was a wonderful show I feel they didn’t get the chance they deserved. The show should’ve been advertised more to get more viewers I saw it on demand and fell in love with the show. I do hope they reconsider , no one likes to pay a lot of money for cable just to watch boring shows . Beowulf was exciting every episode had something new to get excited about.
We’d all really love for this show to come back on, I feel like it wasn’t advertised more maybe that’s why views were low. I’ve been watching on demand and I’m deeply saddened to see the show has been canceled ! I hope they reconsider because it was an amazing show!
Beowolf should not be cancelled we have expectation please we the fans are begging what about our expectations please. The movie beowolf thought me so many things as a girl to b strong and not be weak thet wouldnt have brought out season1 if they knew it had no ending youguys should consider your viewers expectation before any decision we are the voice and not you guys if only did know i wouldnt have started the film at first you guya are bringing disappointment to our viewers how can they ever trust you guys
