It’s the end of the line for the Dallas TV show — for the second time. TNT has announced that they’ve cancelled the new Dallas TV show after three seasons.
A continuation of the successful CBS series from the 1970s, 80s and 90s, Dallas follows the machinations of two generations of the dysfunctional and powerful Ewing clan. The cast includes Josh Henderson, Jesse Metcalfe, Jordana Brewster, Julie Gonzalo, Brenda Strong, Patrick Duffy, Linda Gray, Mitch Pileggi, Emma Bell, Kuno Becker, and Juan Pablo Di Pace.
Year-to-year, season three of Dallas was down by 26% in viewership and down by 38% in the 18-49 demographic. It’s one of TNT’s lowest-rated scripted series and that certainly wasn’t a good sign for its chances of a fourth season.
In a statement, TNT said, “We are extremely proud of the series, which defied expectations by standing as a worthy continuation of the Ewing saga. We want to thank everyone involved with the show, from the extraordinary cast to the impeccable production team, led by the show’s creative forces, Cynthia Cidre and Mike Robin. We especially want to thank the people of Dallas for their warm and generous hospitality during the production of the series.”
Cidre and the writers have been working on scripts and ideas for a fourth season of Dallas so hopefully she’ll share what would have happened at some point.
What do you think? Will you miss the Ewings? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you watch it on another channel?
The programming genius that came up with the idea to create the New Dallas, should have been promoted, but the programming idiot that decided to cancel the series, should have been fired. Ted Turner, wake up and smell the real money. Hasn’t anyone figured out that most of us baby boomers watched the original Dallas in our youth, and we’re delighted to see it come back (especially with some of the original cast members). Since most of us are retired now, and watching TV 24-7, don’t you that our demographic market deserves some attention, especially in light of the fact… Read more »
Dallas should be renewed. So many fans. Much sadness not having it on each week. TV is really getting worse and worse. Please bring back Dallas.
I watched Dallas every Monday night. I would like on CBS ware I watched the beginning of Dallas. It was the best on tv the last three years. Jane mosteller
PLEASE bring back Dallas, it was one of the only shows worth watching. You cannot leave it hanging, the fans need closure!
C’mon bring back Dallas. It was a big mistake cancelling it. This is a show that could go on forever. Such an interesting show to watch. While the production company and actors are still willing, please bring it back.
I have been waiting for months to hear about when Dallas would return. Just found out about the cancellation. I am truly disappointed. This was a show me and my girlfriend looked forward to watching every week. I also have coworkers that enjoyed the show. We would discuss the latest episode every week. Please bring it back even if its only one more season or just a few episodes to provide closure. The show can not just end where it left off. I would watch it on whatever channel you air it on.
I am so dissappointed that Dallas was dropped, I did watch TNT all the time but I have chosen not to watch it any longer. I know my one being won’t matter with all your other viewers but I won’t be watching and haven’t since you announced that you wouldn’t be carrying Dallas!
miss Dallas was hoping after all this time it would continue!
Loved the show. I don’t know why it was cancelled. Most of the shows on now are not worth watching
bummer, they cancelled the show, just when it was getting good
Really bothered by this…the show is amazing IMO! Total bummer!
Really bummed! I was looking forward to the series starting up again! I hope another network with pick up the series.
Why not try CBS on Saturday nights there’s nothing else on. Any time slot would do. Dallas is a good show it kept you on the edge of seat. Please CBS pick it up or another network.
I can’t believe you would cancel one of the most interesting shows ever just cause the ratings were down for a few shows. What about all the re-runs that are on every day. Some of the shows that they have on now are ridiculous but you keep them on. My family and I will never watch that channel again and whoever else I can persuade. But all this is probably on deaf ears cause why would they care what me and you think
Dallas is missed very much by all the fans of this show. The TNT network should be looking in the mirror and saying Whooo-Boy did we blow it! Yes you did. There’s nothing left on your network to watch. You probably will disappear soon because you’ve lost your cash cow.
I hope another network will see the light and bring back Dallas.
