ABC just cancelled freshman comedy Imaginary Mary, while it renewed Speechless and American Housewife for a second season each. How will its new Downward Dog TV show fare? Will this sitcom prove to be the Alphabet Network’s best friend, or go straight to the dogs? Cancelled or renewed for season two? Stay tuned.
A live-action comedy, Downward Dog stars Allison Tolman, Lucas Neff, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Barry Rothbart, Siovhan Christensen, Ayden Mayeri, Andrew Gorell, Sam Hodges (voice), and Ned the dog. The sitcom centers on Nan (Tolman), and is narrated by her philosophically inclined and rather forlorn dog, Martin (voiced by Hodges). Martin tells Nan’s story from the perspective of woman’s best friend. The ABC TV series explores the ups and downs of modern-day human life, through the eyes of a devoted dog.

Absolutely loved this show, yes dog people and anyone with an imagination can relate and will never look at their dogs the same, LOVE IT!!!!!! They shod take it straigh to hulubgor new seasons!!
Watched 5 minutes of the first episode. I will never get those minutes back.

I can only repeat all the comments that have ccome before. A really great thoughtful show that once I alerted friends and family to; it was heading to cancelation. I am so sick of all the reality and revived game shows and just plain brain dead shows on network TV and here was one that was thoughtful and endearing. Please, please “Other channel (or ABC)” bring it back!

Shame on ABC. It didn’t get much publicity and when I told people about it and they watched it they were impressed with the freshness of the premise as well as the cast

This series was heartfelt & hilarious. The only show we loved all year. So disappointed in ABC.
I work at an animal shelter where I’m surrounded by dog lovers who didn’t even know about the show until I told them. By that time there were only three shows left. Everyone absolutely loved it ! They told many others who never got a chance to see it before it was taken off at this bad time of year to start a new show. Plus this is a great opportunity for advertisers with pet food and products, etc, which is a rapidly expanding market. This is the best show that has ever been on TV! The dog is adorable, the characters are great, the writing is smart and clever! ABC cancels all the good sitcoms and leaves the bad ones. They really missed the boat on this one. I hope it gets picked up by another station soon.
It’s a shame that this show is being cancelled. Being a dog lover, it gives a funny insight into the mind of a dog. I hope that another network picks up this refreshing show to give it a chance.

Am AMAZING show, one of the only sitcoms I will watch. It was a terrible time to first air a show, it needs another chance! I missed episodes because school let out and we went on vacation like many many other families. If it had been fall it would have done much better, very cute and funny show!
I absolutely love this show!! Especially if you’re a dog owner (which I am). The creators have done an amazing job describing what a dog (might) think. I definitely want Downward Dog to continue (either on ABC or another network)
