It looks like Aaron’s journey likely won’t continue into the 2021-22 television season. The For Life series has been cancelled so, there won’t be a third season — at least not on ABC.
Airing on Wednesday nights, the For Life TV show is inspired by the life of Isaac Wright Jr. and stars Nicholas Pinnock, Indira Varma, Joy Bryant, Dorian Missick, Tyla Harris, and Timothy Busfield. The series follows the tale of Aaron Wallace (Pinnock), an incarcerated man who becomes a licensed lawyer while still in prison. Aaron litigates cases for other inmates while fighting to overturn his own life sentence for a crime he didn’t commit. In season two, Aaron continues his battle against the political machine that once put him away undeservedly while trying to rebuild his life on the outside. He has the continued help from the people who supported him — his family, wily one-time public defender Henry Roswell (Busfield), and his former prison warden, Safiya Masry (Varma).
The second season of For Life averaged a 0.35 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 1.81 million viewers in the live+same day ratings. Compared to season one, that’s down by 38% in the demo and down by 26% in viewership. It is the lowest-rated scripted show on the network for 2020-21 and finished airing its 10 episode season in late February.
Sony Pictures TV co-produces the drama series with ABC Signature and is expected to shop a possible third season to other outlets. For Life, has reportedly performed very well on Hulu, the streaming service which has released episodes the day after their linear release.
What do you think? Do you enjoy the For Life TV series? Are you sorry that it’s been cancelled? Were you looking forward to watching the third season on ABC?
I really hope this show gets picked up as it is one of the best shows with social justice themes since the West Wing. May not have that level of production quality, but really great writing and acting and very thought provoking. We need more of this!
I loved this show, especially because it’s true (with artistic leeway). Hopefully some TV channel will pick it up, since I don’t do streaming.
I liked the show
Why did you’ll take for life off of channel 7 because that was and awesome tv show okay and i really enjoyed watching it okay so is another tv channel going to take it over because their has to be and third season please work on that really hard!
I really looked forward to seeing that justice has a real place in the world with this show. One of my favorites. The acting and characters seemed so real and I could hardly wait a week to see the next episode. Based on a real person, It should have an ending showing what happened at least after the series folded. Please reconsider.
This show for life has touched so many different imperfections pertaining to real people in life. Bring g it back we need seasons 3 4 5 6 7 8. Please continue the shiw
Loved the show For Life. Do miss it. Please reconsider.
My husband and I really liked the show, if we were busy and could not watch we would record it. I think a really great show was canceled.
Very disappointed it won’t continue. I looked forward to it every week and I am 71:-) Great actors!
Love this series. Please don’t cancel. You can do a couple of seasons more up until this death to finish his life’s work and accomplishments. Baby stations TV stations are constantly canceling the good shows yet keeping the stupid crappy shows which all are the ones that should be cancelled.
Ik zou graag een derde seizoen willen, top serie met veel plezier gekeken op videoland
They need one last season to end the show properly… it is such a great show based on a real life person
Love the show. It atleast showed how you can get wrongfully convicted, and it also showed how you can build yourself up and get your life back.
My boyfriend & I loved this show, please bring it back! We looked forward to seeing it every week. Please bring it back, it’s a really good show to see how someone fought so hard for himself & helped others as well.
they need another season to close it out with a proper ending.
