What does your gut tell you? Is this the beginning of the end for the Instinct TV show on CBS? Although originally, the episode “Long Shot” was supposed to air on Mother’s Day, it has been pulled from the schedule for May 13th and is being replaced by a second episode of 60 Minutes. Whether Instinct‘s season two renewal chances are the real long shot remains to be seen.
Instinct is also not scheduled to air on May 20th, but that had already been the plan. According to the network’s press site, new episodes are still slated for May 27th and June 3rd. Of course those weeks fall outside of Nielsen’s May Sweeps period, which this year runs from April 26th to May 23rd. Whether Instinct will be cancelled or renewed for a second season, it seems CBS may not have wanted it to further dilute the Sunday night ratings during Sweeps.
A CBS crime thriller, based on the James Patterson novel, Murder Games, Instinct stars Alan Cumming, Bojana Novakovic, Daniel Ings, Naveen Andrews, and Sharon Leal. The drama centers on Dr. Dylan Reinhart (Cumming), a former CIA operative who is lured out of his peaceful retirement as a university professor and author, to help NYPD Detective Lizzie Needham (Novakovic) catch a serial killer.
Instinct: A Look at the Ratings
The first season of Instinct is averaging a 0.81 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.859 million viewers. Of the 27 scripted CBS TV shows we’re tracking right now, Instinct currently ranks 21st when sorted by its demo ratings. It rises to ninth place, however, in terms of average total audience size.

I like this show. The “Jasmine” character leaves alot to be desired but everyone else seems believable. It’s nice to have a show for real adults not the reality show crap the networks think we all want
Why cancel such an entertaining show?
I like this show, I have news for networks, I live in a home with 3 college students. They don’t watch ABC CBS OR NBC so if you want that demographic change your programming and you’ll still have low ratings. Put programming on that adults like and you’ll have a winner. Save this show.
I hope CBS keeps this show going. They have interesting storylines and I think the leads have wonderful chemistry. I’m getting so tired of good dramas being sacrificed and replaced with nonsensical reality or supernatural shows!
I LOVE this show, I think it deserves a second season, plus we need good summer shows to get excited about. Before ZOO was cancelled I looked forward to it every summer. I mean FOX has it’s set shows for summer, ABC does too, it is time CBS had a summer line up that didn’t change every year.
I’m sick of CBS doing this. He was the only thing I liked about the Good Wife.
It’s basically Castle – but not as good. I only watch because I like Alan Cumming
I hope they dont c this show. It cute, interesting, humorous and we love the characters. Plus there’s nothing on on Sundays. He finally got a decent show on. Please don’t cancel it.

I think this is the best show this season. The cast is great, with good chemistry. I can’t believe they would even consider cancelling it. I was so disappointed to see that there will be no episode this Sunday. What a rotten Mother’s Day gift.
It’s an intelligent terrific show. Alan Cumming is terrific with Lizzie ! Their chemistry is great.

Well I sure hope it stays on. It’s the one drama on cbs that I like. And on IMDB it shows 13 episodes with titles (except for ep 12). So at least show them in the CBS app. Or amazon/Netflix. So unprofessional (but not surprised) by CBS
