While some shows are getting orders for additional episodes, Numb3rs has just had its number cut by CBS. How does this bode for the drama’s chances for a seventh season?
As Friday night viewers know, Numb3rs revolves around an FBI agent (Rob Morrow) and his genius brother (David Krumholtz) who helps solve cases with mathematics. The cast also features Judd Hirsch (as their father), Alimi Ballard, Dylan Bruno, Navi Rawat, Aya Sumika, and Peter MacNicol.
The series is currently in its sixth season, having debuted in January 2005. For the show’s entire run, it’s been a staple of CBS’ Friday night schedule in the 10pm position.
In its first season, Numb3rs averaged a 3.2 rating in the demo and 11.1 million viewers. In season two, the show’s ratings rose to an average rating of 3.3 and 11.7 million viewers. Overall viewership has dropped since then. Last season was watched by an average of 9.75 million and the demo was 2.2.

This season however has been a different story. Numb3rs’ numbers are way down. It’s fallen all the way down to a 1.7 rating in the all-important demo. Overall viewership has also dropped to an average of 7.9 million viewers.
If you look at these figures, it’s not hard to understand why CBS has decided to cut this season’s order from 22 to 16 episodes. In addition, the network already has a couple other dramas that can take its place, including Flashpoint — a show that’s cheaper and already proven to work on Friday nights.
What does this mean for Numb3rs’ future and its chances for a seventh season? The episode cut doesn’t mean anything in itself but the ratings that caused it certainly do. The show is already in syndication and, now in its sixth year, the show is quite difficult to produce. Unless the ratings return to their previous level, the show will surely be cancelled.
What do you think? Would you be sorry to see the show cancelled or would you like to watch a seventh season?

We never miss this show. It would be a terrible shame and waste to cancel it.
This show is my absolute favorite and the favorite of a lot of my family members too. We wait all week for the new episode of Numb3rs to come out so we can watch it then buy it on itunes. Like Anna said, it would be ridiculous and foolish to cancel this show, my friends all love it and I do too. I even named my guitars after Charlie and Amita…
Please do not cancel this show!! (And thanks for bringing Larry back, we missed him!)
Please don’t cancel this show. It is very interesting and I enjoy it a great deal
The characters are interesting both law enforcement and criminals. The plots are usually better thought out than on most TV shows.
Please do not cancel this show! It is the greatest TV show. I am a high school math teacher and I love it as well as my students. It would be a shame to lose this connection we have developed. Every Monday we get to talk about Fridays episode
As others have mentioned, PLEASE DO NOT CANCEL THIS SHOW. IT THE MOST WELL WRITTEN SHOW ON TELEVISION. IT IS BOTH INTELLECTUALLY STIMULATING, AS WELL AS THE ONLY PLACE WHERE MALE CHACRACTERS INTERACT WITHOUT GRATUITOUS MACHISMO OR TURNING MEN INTO DRIVELLING IDIOTS.
Do not cancel this show, it gives us something to look for on friday, I hope CBS does not
become another NBC(Leno-O’Brian) mess. A lot of us older people love this show.

Do not cancel this show. It is one of the few shows I like.
This is my favorite show, if CBS cancels it then they would have succeeded in canceling the only show worth watching on CBS. The numbers do not necessarily mean anything (the viewer totals) because you have people like me who can not catch it on television Fridays (work 3rd shift) so I end up watching it online. Sometimes I use my DVR to record, all depends. The point is their viewer totals do not account for this kind of thing (online viewers..etc) and it literally is the only thing (or was) keeping CBS on the map for people like me.
Numb3rs is the only show I make a point of seeing. It’s great to come home and actually have something I enjoy watching on Friday night.
Friday’s are set aside to watch this show… there is nothing else worth watching on TV and I being a math teacher love this show. Please leave it running….
To my surprise the show was entertaining and clean, it is hard to find a show that you really can sit down and enjoy. I would love to see the show come back, I just started watching the show on netflix and I have turned alot of my friends on to it as well.
DO NOT CANCEL THIS SHOW. IT IS ONE OF VERY VERY FEW THAT FOR INTELLECTUALS WE CAN ENJOY.
THERE IS WAY TOO MUCH GARBAGE ON THE TELEVISION AND WE NEED SHOWS LIKE NUMBERS TO STAY.
PLEASE do not cancel this–!!!
I think it would be foolish to cancel this show. They already cancelled “THE UNIT”
which was ridiculous. It had a huge following. And I agree about Sophina Brown, she’s like a bad dream.. She acts just like she did in “Shark”/That tomboy attitude and voice… she’s half guy/half girl… ugh.. bring in Colby. And what happened to Amita… All of a sudden Charlie’s fiance` isn’t even mentioned?? that’s odd… am I behind somehow?
Good Lord, this show has been an amazing anchor on Friday nights for a full 5 seasons, it runs into a little trouble spot and they want talk about cancelling it? That’s crazy. Come on CBS, this is one of the best shows you’ve ever aired. It’s entertaining and thought provoking, with such an original storyline. And the story hasn’t ended yet!! Rather than cancel it, why not push it the way you have NCIS? Put it in marathon syndication on USA or Bravo – remind fans who have fallen off what they loved about it while pulling in others… Read more »
If, indeed, Numb3rs is canceled, it would be too bad. I enjoy watching it.
