After endless commercials during the Olympics and lots of print ads, NBC’s Parenthood has debuted. The show has experienced several bumps on its journey to primetime but now it’s finally here and NBC has high hopes for the series. Will it be a hit?
Parenthood revolves around the extended and very colorful Braverman family of Northern California. The large cast includes Lauren Graham, Peter Krause, Craig T. Nelson, Bonnie Bedelia, Mae Whitman, Miles Heizer, Erika Christensen, Sam Jaeger, Dax Shepard, Joy Bryant, Monica Potter, Sarah Ramos, and Max Burkholder.
Last night’s premiere debuted to an average of 8.1 million viewers with a 3.1 rating in the coveted 18-49 demographic. That put Parenthood in second place in total viewers (behind The Good Wife) but in first place in the demo. There was also very little erosion of the audience during the course of the episode.
While it’s positive that Parenthood won its timeslot in the demo, the numbers are surely not as good as NBC was hoping for, especially considering all of the promotion. Still, considering the state of the rest on NBC’s schedule, this should be considered a victory for the ailing peacock network.
As per usual, we’ll have to see how many viewers return week after week to know if Parenthood has a real chance at survival. For now, things look positive.
What do you think? Is Parenthood worth watching or are you changing the channel? Cancel or keep it?

PLEASE keep this show. This is one of the best dramas I have seen in a long time. I look forward to it everyweek! The show touches me in some way from some castmate everytime. I will be so upset and sad if it is cancelled
Parenthood is fantastic! I usually have to record it because it is on late. It would be great to move it to a 8:00/9:00 time slot, if possible. I think you would get more viewers. Please keep this show!!
Best, most sensitive, realistic show on TV. Touches a nerve in every episode. It’s wonderful. Please, please don’t cancel it.
Pleeeease keep this show! I LOVE it!!!!! (:
I love this show! It’s a nice family show that reflects todays issues with teens, marriages, parents, infidelity, disable kid impact on the family, and a whole plethora of good and not so good issues. It’s wholesome, but with a bit of an edge. I guess the deteriation of the american society will continues, as folks watche “That Hoe Stole My Man” ” My Daddy is F—ing My Wife”. Just a bunch of nonsense… Few socially conscience … Well, as you can see that I could go on, but you get the point. I hope that the exes change their… Read more »
KEEP IT!!!!!!!!!!!! I love this sh0w.
This is simply the Waltons revisited. I love the actors, their work, but the show itself becomes rather preachy and annoying after a while. To me, the dialog, is all inter-changeable. The tempo and tone which is much of the style of the show, could just as easily be a single person narrative it is so monotone. Even the small speech imperfections such as a stutter seem to carry through as if the characters are all mental clones of one another. I like characters that have a distinct feel to them and which come to life in the role. Vibrant,… Read more »
keep it …it’s just keeps getting better

I LOVE THIS SHOW!!! KEEP IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They need to keep this show on the air. I assume reality t.v. is more interesting than actual actors, acting. Please exec’s at NBC get a clue, quality shows are hard to come by these days. This one of the good ones, don’t make the mistake of letting this one go in the trash can.
Great show. Very surreal! Keep it on please
We love Parenthood! KEEP IT!
Keep it!
We love Parenthood! There are so many terrible, trashy, horrible shows on T.V. these days, Parenthood is good and wholesome, a show that the whole family can watch. The only downside is the time it airs 10:00 p.m. is too late. Can it be moved to an earlier time slot? Please don’t cancel our FAVORITE show!
