Despite mediocre and poor ratings, Parenthood managed to escape being cancelled for years. But now, NBC has decided to end the show with season six. Will the ratings rise in the final year or will they drop even lower? Will they regret the decision? Stay tuned.
Parenthood follows the lives of the extended Braverman family in Northern California. The large ensemble cast includes Bonnie Bedelia, Joy Bryant, Tyree Brown, Max Burkholder, Erika Christensen, Lauren Graham, Miles Heizer, Sam Jaeger, Peter Krause, Xolo Mariduena, Craig T. Nelson, Monica Potter, Savannah Paige Rae, Dax Shepard, and Mae Whitman.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
1/30 update: You can see the rest of the latest night’s ratings.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
For comparisons: The fifth season of Parenthood averaged a 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 3.98 million total viewers.
Note: Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you still like Parenthood TV series? Do you agree with the decision to end the series? Should there be a seventh season or is this the right time to end the show?
Please don’t cancel. It’s awesome. At least put it on Netflix or something.
please keep parenthood on. It’s the best show on tv.
Please reconsider. This is the best show that has been on the air.
I love this show and am extremely disappointed it is canceling. Seriously, it is the best show on television! I count the days until it is on. Our son has Autism and my husband and I can totally relate to the frustrations of raising Max. Please please please don’t cancel this show!
By far one of the best shows on TV. The acting is superb, storylines are great, and the music they play is awesome!! Please!!! Please!!!! Don’t cancel it!!!!!
I so look forward to new episodes of “Parenthood” (so glad it is available On Demand)–it’s about the only program I EVER WATCH on NBC, CBS or ABC. It’s true to life–keep it going, please!
This is probably one of the few intelligent shows on TV. I never miss it. And who was the idiot that scheduled it against Dancing with the Stars. It is my hope that it is picked up by a network who knows good programming when they see it. It is like the nation is anti wholesome. No wonder crime and violence is running ramped. TV makes evil the hero. I have never more felt that media is undermining the positive American lifestyle. And at my age, I have seen a lot of media manipulation. This cancellation is a perfect example… Read more »
My daughter and I have bonded while watching this fantastic show over the past few years. We get to talk about the choices (good and bad) that the character’s make in a non-threatening way. It seems very true to life. It shows the challenges that many families must endure on a day to day basis. I wish it would continue. I also love to discuss all the characters and their issues with my childhood friend who lives many miles away and who is also a huge fan. The Braverman’s feel like our extended family.
I agree. I have 2 preteen boys that I watch this show with. We talk about the real life situations. Parenthood is a great family show, which should not be cancelled. What is wrong with nearly 4 million viewers? I’d be happy with that many people watching my show.
This is one of my favorite tv shows. I look forward to it every week. It’s one of the shows that we can watch as a family. It seems so true to real life. I hope they can figure out how to keep it on the air.
It’s a great show and shouldn’t be canceled
I agree with what everyone else has said…. I’ll really miss the Braverman Family and wish this wasn’t the final season. With all the really bad shows that get renewed yr after yr, I just don’t understand dropping a wholesome family show.
But that’s what the world is like these days… the shows are reflecting the news and all the awful things that go along with it.
Why cancel such a great show? The characters are well developed, the story lines are compelling and the acting is great. Let’s keep it going!
None of these renewal decisions make any sense. Parenthood is one of the finest shows on TV. The characters, actors, and storylines are first rate. I will sorely missed the wonderful Braverman family and related cast.
Parenthood is one of the best shows on TV! Am sorry that this is the last season. Last night’s final season premiere was fabulous. So many great storylines. Can’t wait until next week’s show.
Never understood why this show never got the ratings. It is a really good show. It is also ridiculous that it is being cancelled. It is nice having a show that isn’t all about murder, crime and killing. Don’t we have enough CSI, Criminal Minds, Bones and other similar type shows?
