Last year, of the 26 scripted CBS TV series we tracked during the regular season, the SEAL Team TV show ranked eighth in the demo and 12th in terms of total audience size. If that was just beginner’s luck, the ratings will drop off in the second season. But if this show has the soul of a warrior, it could even increase its audience this time around. A CBS military drama, SEAL Team stars David Boreanaz, Max Thieriot, Neil Brown Jr., AJ Buckley, Toni Trucks, Jessica Paré, and Judd Lormand. The action-adventure series centers on an exclusive Navy SEAL unit as they train for, plan, and risk their very lives to carry out perilous missions for the sake and honor of the U.S.A. Fierce and focused Jason Hayes (Boreanaz) leads the Tier One team. Despite the hardship it causes them and their families, this SEAL team is ready, willing, and able to embark upon secret missions at the drop of a hat. Their love of country and deep resolve is unmatched.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. For comparisons: The first season of SEAL Team on CBS averaged a 1.01 rating in the 18-49 demo and a total audience of 6.660 million viewers.
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.

SEAL Team is the best show on television. The cast is amazing & their chemistry shows episode after episode. Add the quality of the production from the scripts to the action sequences & I’m on the edge of my seat each & every week. This is the first show where I look at the clock & think, “I can’t believe that it’s been almost an hour”. This is one of the best shows on television right now! It will crush my heart if this show doesn’t come back! Please please please renew SEAL Team for a 3rd season. My life is empty enough with it, I can’t imagine my life without it!
What a winner ! This has got to stay on. We all need to see this. I am a former SF detachment CDR and this is the only non-news show that brought me to the screen for decades. It is spot-on at all levels of OPS, family problems and the culture of patriotism. It does a service to the nation, like the newsreels from WWII did for every American. Great show; albeit a bit slow at times. One minor irritation: Ray and Clay: Lose the beards…especially Ray’s. Clay–not a bad look. But Ray’s looks like a rat’s nest. Just doesn’t suit him. Looking forward to season 3.
