From creators Bryan Fuller and Alex Kurtzman, the Star Trek: Discovery TV show is the latest series in the enduring science-fiction franchise. A prequel to Star Trek: The Original Series, the drama follows the crew of the USS Discovery, during the cold war between the Federation and the Klingons
Star Trek: Discovery centers on First Officer Michael Burnham (Martin-Green), who serves on the USS Shenzhou, before being assigned to the USS Discovery. “Number One,” as she is known, was a ward of Mr. Spock’s (Leonard Nimoy) father, the Vulcan Ambassador, Sarek (Frain). Because of her upbringing, Michael has a rare point of view and is always striving to balance emotion with logic.
The first human to attend the Vulcan Learning Center, and an alumna of the Vulcan Science academy, Michael brings a conscientious and ethical perspective to her duties. Before grasping alien cultures, she will first have to learn to understand herself.
Michael is mentored by Captain Philippa Georgiou (Yeoh) of the U.S.S. Shenzhou. A war veteran, Captain Georgiou is no stranger to loss. Still, she sees the good in others and has faith in both mankind and extraterrestrials.
Although Star Trek: Discovery features a new ship, new characters, and new missions, it espouses the same ideals and optimism which have drawn in audiences for more than 50 years.

To go where no man has gone before has been lost in a continuous story line which rambles episode after episode without humour and a rare smile.
For everyone who has or will dis this new saga in the long line of Star trek shows you are entitled to speak your mind and so will I. Therefore with that said i have been an advent watcher of star trek versions for 40 years and love how they keep pushing us foward in our thinking and imagination!! I had very low expectations for season 3, because first 2 seasons were mediocre at best. But S03E01 still managed to disappoint me.
Meaningless action, eye bleeding acting, lack of diversity to begin with.
This is what happens when you let people who hate star trek run the show. Crossing my fingers for another ST show produced by people who care.
Not a bad show, but many scenes are too dark. Can’t the Klingons speak English? The subtitles are too long and go away too fast. Also and this is the main complaint: Can the music be lowered so we can hear the characters speak???? Help us out or the show goes away……………Thanks.
Star Trek’s intelligent storytelling and optimistic look at the future have gone AWOL since 2005, replaced with weak plots, bad character, and dystopia. The current producers should give it up and let someone new take over who understand the franchise.

Great sets, production effects! Dumb sci fi, way dark, profanity makes it un star trek. Poorly written stories. Un rewatchable. People tune in to watch Star Trek, after a few episodes, people just tune out. Its so different, original had peaceful diversity. This show has mansplaining, and goes out of its way to bash men. Original never did that to women. Total disrespect to command structures. PLEASE FIX THIS MESS.
Star Trek Discovery is one of the best Star Trek shows ever! Please continue! I pray that Star Trek Discovery goes “7” seasons!!!!!!!
I wanted to like it, but the stories are just too lame. Couldnt get into it. Not rewatchable at all. Its sad to say but the Orville is way better. First 2 seasons are completly forgetable fantasy soap opera B.S. ended with a 3D printed Ironman suit more powerful than a starship full of Star Wars droids. Please find producers that actualy know the difference between Star Trek, Star Wars, Hitchikers guide to the galaxy and Dr. Who.
I agree with you John. I’m a fan of the Gene Roddenberry style Star Trek shows. Couldn’t get into Discovery. It reminded more of Star Wars and Dr. Who. I like Star Trek Picard much more than Discovery — at least so far.
Discovery is the best series of Star Trek I have watched, and I have been watching Star Trek for 50 years. Go forth and prosper!
