It looks like the ride is over for Taxi Brooklyn. It’s been cancelled by NBC and won’t be returning for a second season this summer.
Taxi Brooklyn follows Cat Sullivan (Chyler Leigh), a tough NYPD Detective who doesn’t let a demotion to foot patrol stop her from trying to find her father’s killer. She finds an unlikely ally in Leo Romba (Jacky Ido), a taxi driver from Marseille. The rest of the cast includes James Colby, Jose Zuniga, Jennifer Esposito, Bill Heck, Ally Walker, and Raul Casso.
The series debuted last June 25th to an unimpressive 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.34 million viewers. The numbers didn’t improve over the course of the season which averaged a 0.9 rating in the demo and 5.0 million viewers.
The season finale of Taxi Brooklyn aired in September 2014 and there hasn’t been any official word from the network regarding the show’s fate. That’s certainly not a good sign, especially if viewers were hoping to see a second season this summer.
Late last year, executive producer Gary Scott Thompson indicated that things weren’t looking good and that they were “running out of time” — likely an indication that the cast contracts would soon expire. Earlier this year, he wrote that, “If history is any indication, we will probably never have official word” [on Taxi Brooklyn’s fate].
When reporting that Leigh had joined the pilot for Supergirl on CBS, TVLine noted that Taxi Brooklyn would not be returning to NBC for a second season.
NBC licensed the show from EuropaCorp Television so their costs are lower. EuropaCorp could potentially produce a second season and find another US outlet to air it but there’s been no word of that. Thompson has said that “it’s up to nbc.”
What do you think? Did you like the Taxi Brooklyn TV show? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season? Would you watch a second season on another channel?
Why end the show, a great show? Based on ratings? I say ratings are overrated! How sad.
i really love this show. i just finished the season and i really want to know would happen next. i love shows like this one. please make a second season. i would like to know what happens with Leo’s son and ex wife. and cat and everything else.

Bring it back! Great show, loved it!
i am so disappointed there is no season 2. The last episode really leaves us hanging. I would definately watch on another network. I never knew about this show on NBC. I watch all twelve episodes in a couple days on Netflix.
Just watched season 1 on netflix uk
realy dissapointed that there is no
season 2. Whats going on. Brilliant
show
THERE HAS TO BE ANOTHER SEASON
OMG why aren’t they having another season the whole end of season one ended on a cliff hanger for season 2 I cried at the end and would have loved for the last episode to be longer and better because there was so much death and we don’t know what happens.
Please bring on a second season to this show. I think the writers were awesome. this show had all the appeal of a great show. The ending has left us all drooling for more. Next season i would market it better.
Gotta tell you! I absolutely loved this show – didn’t know about it when on TV but binge watched on Netflix and would LOVE to see another season. Fun characters; action; serious content. The characters played well off of another. Thank you.
I really love the show and yes I think they should have season 2.. I would watch all the episodes. I love cat’s character, I may have a female crush on her… please bring season two it doesn’t matter which channel it will be on. this Show is amazing
We really liked the show. Hope to see it get another season even if its on another network.
It should be brought back – why are shows with a less cruel and gory approach cancelled all the time? I just started watching it, and while trying to find info about actors, I saw that it’s been cancelled. Just like The Glades, which also placed more importance on human relations than grisly detail.
I agree I liked the Glades and this one – I got hooked!
Plz bring it back…I love the show.
OMG I can’t believe it, I loved this show. I’m heartbroken after that ending. I don’t get it, if you’re gonna cancel a show, than you give the fans a nice ending, a good send off as a thanks to the fans for sticking with it in the first place. You don’t blow everything up in your face that’s just cruel. Taxi Brooklyn deserved better, so did we.
