An ABC TV show, the forgotten follows the cases taken on by a group of talented civilians once the police hit a dead end. The series features the talents of Christian Slater, Michelle Borth, Heather Stephens, Bob Stephenson, Rochelle Aytes, Anthony Carrigan, Judith Hoag, Lily Rains, and Elisha Cuthbert.
The drama got off to an okay start last September with a 2.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 9.54 million viewers. The second installment’s ratings were far lower and then, the numbers got even worse. The first season of the forgotten ended up averaging only a 1.7 rating and 6.49 million viewers.
ABC had intended to air all 17 episodes but the programmers ultimately had to do some reshuffling of the schedule late in the season. Two installments didn’t air but, thankfully, the last produced episode did.
An ABC representative told us that the unaired episodes of the forgotten could still see the light of day before the end of summer. If not, they’ll pop up on the DVD set when or if that’s released.
To no surprise though, the forgotten won’t be back for season two. ABC has officially cancelled the series, the second one for Slater in two years.
What do you think? The people who watched, seemed to love this TV show. Why didn’t the forgotten catch on?

I really liked this show…it was real for me there are so many people that are missing..this just seemed natural for people to want to find them…the actors were good..a shame but yet they keep parks and recreation….
ABC your dumb as hell for cancelling the forgotten..i watched most of the episodes and i really liked the show…ive been waiting for season 2…looksl ike i can get that now because your dmumb asses cancelled one of the best shows you guys have…hopefully another tv channel picks it up…Slater was really good in the show…..also why in the hell would you being in another big name actor in Elisha Cuthbert only to cancel it…shows how dumb you ABC idiots are…ABC your current shows right now suck…no one watches them…you need to bring back the forgotten its an awesome show… Read more »
Never really gave this one a chance to gain an audience. I enjoyed the show and either watched or DVR’d all episodes. It was one of the series I recorded if chasing young ones to bed. Sad to see this one go, it just sort of went away. The characters were likeable and admirable. It was nice to see people focused on helping others in such a non selfish way. We could do with more of this. Nice twist/ plot line and refreshing relief from the the gory medical stuff or the reality tv/game shows. The show will be sorely… Read more »
It’s just sad that the Simpsons can make it for 20 seasons and good shows like The Forgotten are cancelled. Man, what is this world turning into a bunch of useless zombies that watch cartoons at 30. I’m guessing after all these seasons Bart has done everything he possibly can. Lets actually get a show that holds someones interest.
Well I hope they at least release the series on DVD. It makes me feel guilty for not watching it all the time like I should have. Good show, bad decision. What else is new?
I can’t believe your cancelling the forgotten before giving them a chance. Start a new series in the middle of the week at 10 and you wonder why it didn’t get a following. Move the show to an earlier timeslot, and forget the reality shows.
Please bring the forgotten back! I looked foward to the show coming on every week. I agree with Gabrial you have NOTHING to watch; so I guess I will have to watch cable!!!!!
I am very disappointed that the show is cancelled. It was my daughters favorite show. The show was very entertaining, and hopefully another network will pick it up. 🙁
Now They cancel Happy Town. When I said Void I should have said Your in Deep Deep Trouble(A.B.C.) Nobody is going to watch your Network this summer. To Bad You had some very good shows Now you have Nothing to watch.
One more thing. The least you can do(A.B.C.)is show the other episodes you never Aired. Mainly because what you have on now is not worth watching except for Happy Town. You need something to fill the void of which is getting bigger. If you want people to watch your Network I would advise you to Air the series(with missing episodes)this summer. Don’t stand there and do nothing U.S.A.-F.X. have very good shows still running In Plain Sight,Justified just to name a few.Why don’t You.
I Hope and Think some Network will pick it up. It is really a very good show and should have Never been cancelled. A.B.C. this show WILL come back it is to good a show not to,And when it dose you are going to wish you Gave this Show more time. This is going to come back and Bite you in the A__.
What? How do we continue with boring reality shows, and informative, do some good shows get cancelled? This is not the first one that has happened to. I enjoyed the show.
Please do not cancel the show. It is really good.
I love Christian Slater, and I enjoyed this series. I am sorry to hear that it was cancelled.
I came across this show while the Olympics were on. I enjoyed what I saw of it and I am disappointed that it has not been renewed. As I missed the beginning shows is there any chance they will show this summer? Ruth
