FOX has decided to wrap their summer run of The Good Guys a few weeks early, on August 2nd. The network had previously planned to air original episodes of the Bradley Whitford / Colin Hanks series until August 23rd.
The series debuted to a disappointing 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.93 million viewers. The numbers have essentially fallen each week and hit a low of a 1.0 rating and 3.42 million viewers.
Despite garnering poor ratings during the summer months, The Good Guys remains on the network’s fall schedule. Original episodes will return to FOX beginning Friday, September 24th. It remains to be seen how long that will last.
FOX has lower expectations for summer shows but it’s hard to believe that the network is pleased with the series’ performance. It seems that they’re keeping it on the fall schedule in hopes that viewers will tune in on Friday nights instead of trying one of the other networks’ new shows.
By the time Good Guys finishes its summer run, FOX will have aired nine original episodes. That will leave 11 new episodes for the fall. The real test will be to see if the network orders any more. Right now, that doesn’t seem likely.
What do you think? Do you like The Good Guys? Do you think it’ll last to see a second season? Should it?

Someone mentioned they liked The Good Guys so I found out when it aired. My adult son and I watch it together on his summer break and think it’s hilarious. We laugh together and think it’s a hoot. I love the expressions of Jack and Dan and their shennanigans. The entire show is well cast. Bring it back!
PLEASE keep a show on TV that the whole family can watch…..it’s silly, it’s funny, it’s tongue and cheek comedy and it really does have a story line! Give us something to laugh about without insulting our inteligence….Goofy..Maybe..but this show makes U happy!
If this one is cancelled I will throw my TV in the garbage !
I really hope they keep this show on the air. It is soo entertaining and just plain fun to watch. Seeing Bradley enjoying this role is fun for the auidence to watch. Colin is very likable in this part and I think they have good chemistery together. This is so much more fun to watch than another awful reality show with screaming and fighting. Please give this show a chance to grow an audience. I like some of the TV I view to be entertaining!
This show is the most HILARIOUS sitcom ever!!!! The actors play their parts perfectly. The writing is original and laugh out loud funny,so funny that you can’t stop laughing through the whole show!!! Each show is even funnier than the last!!!It’s hysterical and we never miss it.It will be a big mistake for FOX to take it off.Once people catch on it will be one of the most popular shows ever.
It’s a great show, don’t cancel it
When we first started watching the show, we weren’t sure if we would like it or not. Now, we LOVE it!!! Plus, it’s filmed in Dallas. We actually got to meet and hang out with them on the set when they filmed across the street from our store. Really nice, genuine guys. Truly The Good Guys!! Please keep this show on the air!!
Love this show. Keep getting more people to watch it every week. Hope it doesn’t get cancelled. Maybe I’ll air it in the bar on Friday nights.
I love the show… I think it is hilarious. I think if more people knew it exisited they would watch it. To many look alike tv shows today, unlike this one which is totally refreshing.
I especially loved the episode the the ex mobsters.. Silvio’s way.. It was a great Laugh..
‘s here…Please… Just give it a chance, and let people know
This show is hilarious! I love it and rearrange my calendar to watch it. It is incredibly well written and intelligent in its humor. Hanks and Whitford have great chemistry. It is laugh out loud funny. Come on, Fox, give it a chance! Give the adults some excellent shows like The Good Guys. After all, we are the ones who actually buy the products from your advertisers!
My husband & I also hope the show will stay. It is a refreshing mix of action/ comedy, that is a rare genre on television right now , and I think it could hit its stride this fall. The reality shows are wearing very thin, and I think their time is up.
The Good Guys is a great tongue in cheek dramedy that I have been enjoying. I absolutely love Bradley Whitford, and it has been great to see him in a comedic role. I was so disappointed that Fox decided to have the summer finale so soon. Fox really needs to order more episodes of this smart and funny show.
I really, really like The Good Guys TV show with Colin Hanks, etc. Please keep it going and don’t cancel!
This show is fantastic! It wasn’t well advertised and I actually stumbled across it and have been hooked ever since. I now have my whole family watching and many of my friends. I agree that it just needs some time to take hold. They need to promote it more. It has everything it needs to survive: action, comedy, romance. It is perfect!
This show needs to stay. It’s like a great mash-up of Psych and Burn Notice, two shows that would never have lasted on network TV but have lasted–and thrived–on cable. On cable, networks realize that it sometimes takes people a while to discover a show, especially one as off-beat as The Good Guys. Not everyone is keeping their finger on the pulse of new shows, and therefore initial numbers will be low. I’ll admit I had no interest in The Good Guys based just on the promos. They made it look way too goofy for the sake of goofiness. They… Read more »

Since I’m not in the “beloved” age group….. even though our age group more spendable money laying aroung….. this show is great…. and I too love Physch, Burn Notice, Lie to Me, the off the air MONK, and even Rookie Blues is not bad.
