Sadly, the Visitors aren’t among us any longer. After two short seasons, ABC has cancelled their V TV series.
A reimagining of the original V, this series tells the tale of what happens when an advanced alien race arrives of Earth professing their desire to help mankind. Fortunately, not everyone trusts them. The second season features the talents of Charles Mesure, Elizabeth Mitchell as Erica Evans, Joel Gretsch, Laura Vandervoort, Logan Huffman, Morena Baccarin, Morris Chestnut, and Scott Wolf.
For season one, V ended up averaging a 2.25 rating in the coveted 18-49 demographic and 5.7 million average viewers. It was “on the bubble” but ended up being renewed for a 13 episode second season. The network was hoping that the show would catch on and the ratings would improve.

ABC later reduced the episode order to just 10 installments and debuted them mid-season. Unfortunately, ABC’s gamble didn’t pay off. Season two of V ended up averaging only a 1.9 in the demo and 5.49 million viewers.
Though the network and producers maintained that the show was still in contention for next season, it was clear that there would only be a third season of V if ABC was willing to gamble once again. In the end, they weren’t.
ABC confirmed today that V has been cancelled after two seasons and 22 episodes. The series finale aired on March 15th and, unfortunately, there were lots of unresolved cliffhangers. Hopefully the producers will someday share what they had in mind for season three.
What do you think? Are you sad that V won’t be returning next season? Why do you think the series didn’t catch on?

I don’t think it worked because it was not as good as the original. It was too different than the originial.
I think it was a great show. It was just reaching its greatest appeal when they cancelled it. If they had given it a full season they would have had a larger fan base. Too often stations get worried and dont want to give a show the money or time to make a show a success. If I know a show is only goung to have twelve or thirteen episodes I wouldnt have much interest. I was really hoping they were just giving it a midseason break. I was already hooked. Now im really bummed.
I agree with a few mentioned responses about how all good tv show’s get cancelled. It’s hard, because you know as soon as you find an awesome unique show, it will get cancelled. V was so good, and I couldn’t wait to see it the next week. The only problem was, that for down here is Australia, they kept ridiculously changing the time slots, causing every one I knew (including myself) to not watch it from not knowing even if it was back on telly. The same thing happened to me for Heroes, and worst of all, Dark Angel… Here’s… Read more »
I looked forward to this summer program. If you recall they did the same thing to “The Gate.”. It makes me not to follow ANY programs! I am “Lost” over Lost too.
I really enjoy V it was excellent series, the actors the new concept is so good the special effects was outstanding, need more promotion, I will start to make recomendention on my fb. The fans of the series want 3d season!!
What! I was just looking on line when will the second season of V come out on TV.
Great promotions By ABC. Iam sure will get another BS. show instead.
I loved this show and was a fan of the original I hate that its was cancelled
the reality stuff is just ridiculous and taking over good TV hope it comes back
or a movie to resolve the open ends
was a brilliant series nothing yo look forward to on the telly now. maybe they should make a movie. what were the european figures like bet they were good. shame its gone
We all loved it, and miss it we finally couldn’t take it and got on the internet to fiqure out what was going on. Well I’ll break it to the family.
Actually the show was to fast in many ways, lie the first arrivals and stuff. the original was way better made that way at least the first 5 movies the new v had no real flesh and flat charcters. top much fancy stuff, to slow where it should be quicker and way to quick – even jumpy – where it should have a developing it also ignores almost all consequences inside the story – so you dont see panics and riots much and stuff… actually it would be possible to go way slower in the storyline while not beeing boring… Read more »
The isn’t very much worth viewing on TV these days. This program was good, I agree it was taking to long to get to where it was going. Nevertheless, it was worth turning on each week. ABC just left us with our mouths wide opened and scratching our heads when they cancelled V. I was very disappointed. Maybe they will consider bringing it back on to at least complete it, then cancel it. Come on guys.
season 2 very sad ending,,,,totally ******* sad,,,and even worst,,,no seasons 3,,,,
The show was good, but was taking too long to get to where it was going. LOST fell out of favor because it took too long and tried to have too much in it. It is a shame that once again the big three can’t get their acts together. I don’t watch any of the big three networks because you can get involved in a show, and then it get canceled without notice. I don’t like being left hanging. SyFi channed at least completed Battlestar Galactica and Caprica. Didn’t like how it ended, but they did bring it to a… Read more »
Love this showwwwwww
By now, I have to say that I am not at all surprised by ABC’s idiotic decision to cancel, yet again, another great tv series! If they had a choice to air a third and final season, they should have, and might as well have, done it. Thanks again for ruining another great tv series for the people who actually did enjoy watching it. I guess it will be replaced by another ridiculous reality show like “The Bachelor” or “Dancing with the Stars.”
Unfortunately you happen to be correct … ABC has done it again … they have replaced V with that stupid rediculous Dancing with the Stars. How laughable and pathetic. I will not be watching many ABC shows and will encourage fellow friends to do the same. Shame we can not get ABC to take a chance on an excellent series.
