Sadly, the Visitors aren’t among us any longer. After two short seasons, ABC has cancelled their V TV series.
A reimagining of the original V, this series tells the tale of what happens when an advanced alien race arrives of Earth professing their desire to help mankind. Fortunately, not everyone trusts them. The second season features the talents of Charles Mesure, Elizabeth Mitchell as Erica Evans, Joel Gretsch, Laura Vandervoort, Logan Huffman, Morena Baccarin, Morris Chestnut, and Scott Wolf.
For season one, V ended up averaging a 2.25 rating in the coveted 18-49 demographic and 5.7 million average viewers. It was “on the bubble” but ended up being renewed for a 13 episode second season. The network was hoping that the show would catch on and the ratings would improve.

ABC later reduced the episode order to just 10 installments and debuted them mid-season. Unfortunately, ABC’s gamble didn’t pay off. Season two of V ended up averaging only a 1.9 in the demo and 5.49 million viewers.
Though the network and producers maintained that the show was still in contention for next season, it was clear that there would only be a third season of V if ABC was willing to gamble once again. In the end, they weren’t.
ABC confirmed today that V has been cancelled after two seasons and 22 episodes. The series finale aired on March 15th and, unfortunately, there were lots of unresolved cliffhangers. Hopefully the producers will someday share what they had in mind for season three.
What do you think? Are you sad that V won’t be returning next season? Why do you think the series didn’t catch on?

I think ABC is crazy for cancelling V. We all know it is the baby boomer generation who spends all the money not the 18-49 demo age group! Those of us who remember the original V were captivated by the newer sci fi tech available. You lost an ABC viewer now. I think the recent decisions of ABC are shortsighted and I for one will choose another network to watch.
I’ve just watched the season finale here in England and can’t understand why this show has been cancelled, especially when we have to put up with rubbish like Desperate (no ones watching) Housewives.
ABC are missing a real trick with this show and I sincerely hope that on behalf of the thousands of Brits who watch the show that another network picks this up!
One is not amused!!!
This really sucks! I realy enjoyed the show and thought it had a good storyline! And now they cancel it without giving us a true ending! Ugh! I barely watch ABC or any of those channels anyway! They always cancel the good shows but keep the crap! Now I truly have no reason to watch ABC except for Desperate Housewives and if they take that off I never have to turn to ABC except for GMA.
It perhaps was my fault, I loved the show, I watched religiously until ABC didn’t allowed us to watch On-Line anymore… after that I knew it would be cancelled so I stopped watching. I think they tried to make us go back to the TV. ABC has the best View-On-Line service out there. I don’t understand why they pulled V out of that serviced… it was such a good show. I, as most people my age, verily watch shows on traditional TV anymore, so if Networks decide to start charging for its On Line service that would be, as radios,… Read more »
why why? thats it am done watching new shows. guess will stay with my old shows, ABC News wonder if they will cancel that????
Goodbye Erica,Anna,Lisa,Joshua,Ryan, . . . !! We loved you…
Nooooooooooo, Please No
I am extremely saddened about the “V” having been taken off the air. I really loved the cast and the character development was really good. I thought the show was really fun and very colorful to watch. I shall really miss the show. Not very much left to watch now.
I wish another network would pick it up.
I hate ABC! I from Brazil, I like this show and this is disrespect to televiewer. In my contry, if show don’t have performance there are a season finale.
I’ve got the feeling that I have a weird taste. Everytime I like a serie, they cancel it because of the low ratings… Epic faillure to cancel this one!
its a vicious circle – for reasons known only to themselves, network execs mess around with date and time slots (losing viewers), then cancel a show before it has a chance to become established, thus losing viewers, then roll out a new show, and repeat! TV EXECS NEED A REALITY CHECK! MOVING THE DAY AND TIME A SHOW IS ON AROUND CONSTANTLY COUPLED WITH MIDSEASON BREAKS OF WEEKS IF NOT MONTHS DOES NOT WORK!!! OF COURSE YOU ARE GOING TO LOSE VIEWERS!!! MOVING A SHOW AROUND THE SCHEDULE DECREASES VIEWERS, AND THEN THE HIGHLY PAID SUPPOSED EXPERTS BIZARRELY THINK THE… Read more »
I totally agree. they mess around w/ the schedule so much who can keep up with the shows that you REALLY WANT TO WATCH. Do you see how they have certain shows that they want to push on us they’ll do it, & make sure that particular show is not messed with. “V’ / “THE GATES” / NO ORDINARY FAMILY all cancelled. I think they have way to much time on their hands or to seriously tank their network. The cancellation of the 40 year soaps that they say no one is watching/ what a crock!! My Mother & Father… Read more »
Typical ABC dinosaur move. People don’t follow live TV anymore. Oh, except about 10 millions of them (of which you got over 5 millions for V). I urge people not to follow new ABC shows as they will keep counting live viewers to renew or cancel their shows.
Just a joke! everytime I get into a series its cancelled… ABC u SUCK!
I’m extrememly disappointed that this show has been cancelled! Me to. I like V series but ABC series stop suddenly so i dont want to see more abc series if v 2009 no return with season three. Bye bye ABC.
I loved this show. It was well written and had great actors. I am so tired of one more cop show being added. People do not need another cookie cutter series. Some of us like to go beyond Desperate Housewives and reality shows. They might try to cater to the people who like something different to watch.
