Watson wrapped its second season on Sunday night, and the season finale marked the end of the CBS drama. The creator of the series has now revealed what would have happened if the series had continued for a third season.
Morris Chestnut, Eve Harlow, Peter Mark Kendall, Inga Schlingmann, Ritchie Coster, and Rochelle Aytes star in the series, which follows John Watson as he works to solve medical cases after he thought Sherlock Holmes had died.
According to Deadline, Craig Sweeny said the following about a third season for the CBS series:
“In Season 3, Watson would also have been Sherlock’s doctor treating ongoing complications from the ailment that plagued Holmes at the end of Season 2. We originally conceived the Watson/Holmes storyline to have Holmes exist only as a delusion in Watson’s head as a means for Watson to learn about his glioblastoma, but quickly revised those plans after we saw what Robert Carlyle brought to the role of Sherlock Holmes. Watson’s Holmes and Watson were fun to write and watch, and so we devised a way for Sherlock to be present in the real world.
The heart of Watson was the cases, so if we had come back we would have continued to hunt the strange and amazing scientific outliers that made up our strongest episodes. Of course, medical fellowships last three years, so a major theme of season three would have been exploring what would have happened to Ingrid, Stephens, Adam, and Sasha at the end of their Fellowships and how many new doctors would be worked into the mix.”
What do you think? Do you enjoy this CBS series? Would you have wanted to see a third season?

Another absolutely great show. Had a different approach. Interesting characters to watch how they change and grow. Also medical issues were not your everyday concerns.
Yes. I WANTED ANOTHER SEASON.
We really enjoyed the show and the characters.
Very sad to see the story stopped mid stream.
Really do not understand why Paramount is not giving a number of shows to develop up to full speed. I guess profit drives everything anymore.
Too bad really liked it
Another great show that CBS killed. They’ve got a bad habit of keeping garbage shows and killing off the great ones
What a shame!!! This show was great. The medical problems were different from the usual and really made us aware of what can happen to people besides the usual heart probems, broken bones, etc. You really had to pay attention to what was going on, but heaven forbid, we have to use our brains. CBS is getting to be like NBC and cancelling good shows in favor of cheaply made reality garbage and stupid comedies.
What about Sasha andStephens?
I really sad that the series Watson didn’t continue for 3rd season. Sherlock coming back would’ve made for a strong pair and Ingrid’s role really had potential!! Bad decision CBS you lost a good one once again
I would love for this series to retur to see John and Mary together with them working together along with the team
I would love for this series to returning to see John and Mary together with them working together along with the team
I was so disappointed to see this show cancelled.. I believe shows that make the viewer think always are cancelled. The American public is lazy and want to be entertained or just watch sports and nothing else
I hear that! They keep keep scripted shows that they call REALITY SHOWS that pretend it’s all real but it’s TOTALLY SCRIPTED!!
CUTTING NCIS,HAWAI’I, as well as many a good shows that actually make people think!
One of, if not the best of the fairly new shows! What a shame to have cancelled it. Hope another network picks it up.
I love this show and wish there was a third season to wrap things up better. I’d really like to know what happens to the fellows, where they go for their next step.
I think cbs is slowly but surely canceling all intelligent shows. First the brightest comedian , with the best ratings and the brightest monologues, Steve Colbert , and now Watson which was obviously too intelligent for the new owners. It is shame to see this network being brought down to the low class of Fox. Very sad, Never watching anything on cbs after May 21. Too ad the Ellison have money but no class
would love to be a fly on the wall in the meeting after all the cancellations on may 22nd lololol
This was a fantastic show, I wish it wasn’t cancelled.
