NBC has really struggled on Thursday nights and hasn’t had a hit sitcom in years. Will the A to Z series break that losing streak or will it be cancelled like so many other comedies? Stay tuned to find out.
A to Z follows the story of Andrew (Ben Feldman) and Zelda (Cristin Milioti) — two young people who are very different. Their relationship shouldn’t work and yet it does. Is it true love forever or just a detour in destiny? The rest of the cast includes Christina Kirk, Henry Zebrowski, Hong Chau, Lenora Crichlow, and Katey Sagal.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
10/31 update: NBC has cancelled A to Z after 13 episodes. Details here.
Final season averages: 0.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 2.67 million total viewers.

Note: Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like A to Z TV show? Would you like to see it cancelled or renewed for a second season?
I totally agree with all of these people! A to Z needs a better ending than the one you gave it…which was no ending. It is such a refreshingly genuine, adorable, and funny show. I felt like I knew the characters after just a few episodes. I really wish I’d known the show was cancelled before getting so invested (totally binge-watched it this week). But seriously…it was only meant to be a 26 episode mini-series so why can’t you just finish it properly??
Honestly this was one of my favorite shows and the absolute highlight of my week. I really hope to see this show renewed or I’ll be completely devestated. I thought it was a creative twist on such a bane storyline and definitely deserved it’s spot on TV
Please, please don’t cancel A to Z. It is a funny show that draws you in week after week! I started watching it from the beginning and the more I talked about it to family and friends, the more of them started watching and we are all hooked. The actors are all likable and the connection between Andrew and Zelda is hot!
It was cute & I miss it!
We love this show!! My daughter and I would watch it over and over because it is a great feel-good show about how love really happens in the real world. It’s about real people facing real dilemmas and getting through the hard times to make love happen. And it’s funny and sweet and all the things that most TV shows won’t show you. Most other shows are full of sappy drama or explosions and turmoil and zombies. How ridiculous – how many people watching TV can relate to all of that nonsense!! This is something that we can get in… Read more »
Please don’t cancel…..at least give an ending. I thought this was an awesome show. It felt like little movies each week rather than a series. It just felt really different, and in a good way. Sooooo tired of the same stupid plots of other shows.
I have been watching this show from the beginning of the season – actors are great! It’s funny and romantic – we could use a little more of this kind of show!! Please bring it back/give it a second season -whatever it is you do with shows these days. I’d really like to
see how it ends (Z)!
Please finish A-Z!
Id love to see the story finished!!
The DUMBEST decision the Executives at NBC did was to compete against ABC and Scandal. Give this show a different day and I’m sure it will do EXTREMELY well! I LOVE this show!!
So sad!! I can’t believe A-Z is cancelled. They should atleast finish the Alphabet!
You can’t cancel A to Z! It’s like How I Mer Your Mother meets Notting Hill, but even better.
Does this rating thingy take into account that people nowadays often record series first and then watch them? I had all the 13 episodes on the computer before watching any of them. I bet you lose at least half the audience in your calculations if you don’t see how watching tv has changed.
It’s a great show. We want to see more!
So sad that they let this one go. I thought it was the best new show they had.
Give A to Z a second chance…you have to understand many people watch this show in large groups. We understand this does not help the ratings, but if you live in s dorm room or sorority/fraternity house, nursing home, jails or an area where there is one only TV, it becomes difficult. There are many people, whom enjoy the show and the characters. The story line is ingenious, very creative how each individual story brings the characters together. There are something which can be improved, but the base and the heart is there.. NBC, for everyone whom has every been… Read more »
NBC wonders why it’s been struggling for for years in ratings. Cancelling wonderful shows such as A to Z before giving them half a chance is why people don’t watch your network anymore and you’re getting your asses kicked by CBS. This is a fantastic show and I can’t believe it didn’t get renewed, let alone finish out the season to Z. You could have tried a different night or time slot instead of cancellation. You’re notorious for doing this. Get your heads out of your collective asses, NBC execs, and maybe your network will finally pull itself up. So… Read more »
At least finish the alphabet. Stopping the show midway is dumb. U did that with Traveler years ago. I watch more on CBS as a result. Finish the story at least. Cut a few letters out if need be but give it closure.
