As expected, NBC has decided not to move forward with a second season of AD: The Bible Continues. The 12 episode mini-series wrapped on June 21st and has now been cancelled.
Produced by Mark Burnett and Roma Downey, AD: The Bible Continues tells the tale of the later chapters of biblical history (following the Crucifixion of Christ). It focuses on the disciples who had to go forward and spread the teachings of Jesus Christ to a world dominated by political unrest. The cast includes Juan Pablo Di Pace, Adam Levy, Richard Coyle, Vincent Regan, Greta Scacchi, Babou Ceesay, Chipo Chung, Emmett J. Scanlan, Jodhi May, Joanne Whalley, Ken Bones, Kevin Doyle, Helen Daniels, and Fraser Ayers.
The series debuted on April 5th to a respectable 2.33 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.68 million viewers. Unfortunately, the ratings saw severe drops in the weeks that followed. The finale hit a series low with a 0.7 demo and 3.56 million.
Though NBC doesn’t want a second season, the story isn’t over. Producers Mark Burnett and Roma Downey have said that their writers have been working on scripting season two for some time.
Now that NBC has cancelled the show, the producers see it as a tentpole for the launch of OTT. They have been working on the online channel since partnering with MGM to form United Artists Media Group last fall. The online channel is envisioned as a base for faith and religion-based content but won’t be launched until 2016 or 2017.
The castmembers of AD are being released from their contracts because the next incarnation won’t be filmed for awhile. As a result, there may be some recasting when production resumes.

It was disheartening to learn there will not be a finishing of A.D. The Bible Continues. I had no Idea when I bought it that there was even a 2nd season until the very end; and then when I went to see about getting the other half, I can’t. What a let down. You did such a wonderful job on this. I pray you finish what you started
Please bring part 2! I really enjoyed the series. I purchased it so I could watch it when I wanted too. Again please bring on part 2. I pray you will let us all know something soon, it is now the year 2020.
Please bring season 2 out as soon as possible because this was the beginning of the new testament with the deciples continually to spread the word and I want to see the end of it not be interrupted by a cancellation. Please bring this Series back it has more information than any other Bible movies or series.

I would like for the season 2 to be released soon. I understand the fact it’s underrated but there are lot of people around Nigeria who will love to see the second season but do not know how to go about the ratings. Please writers, producers and every other members that made this movie to come alive don’t stop the good work. The movie has really helped me in knowing how the spirit works and also revealed the truth behind being a born again

About a week ago i bought the dvd to A.D. THE BIBLE CONTINUES …and now i want to buy the second season …where can i buy it i am really intrested i really enjoiyed it …that i have bought THE SON OF GOD but still waiting ..because its comming by mail …and i want all of the collection of the BIBLE ….

It should be renewed. If young people don’t want to watch the series, it’s their loss. Roma & Mark did a wonderful production and made a great gift for all to enlighten themselves on the history of mankind. Believe or don’t believe; but don’t squash what happened all in the name of ratings. It was a long series and folks have short attention spans. So don’t deny us from seeing the continuation. I too was so so disappointed to find out here wasn’t gonna be a Season 2. These ratings are done from sampling and may not show the real picture. I would definitely pay to watch A.D. The Bible Continues, Season 2 and more seasons. Season 1 was so well made and so educational. Bring it back please. You’ll get your rewards in heaven for sure.
Is there a way to find out if season 2 of A.D. The Bible Continues was made and for sale on DVD? I just purchased the DVD of part 1 as I saw it on Light TV over Easter week. I had already seen and purchased The Bible. I am with you and Loved the way The Bible and AD The Bible Continues was made.
