Has CBS killed BrainDead? Network chief Glenn Geller recently discussed the show’s status at the TCA summer press tour.
From Robert and Michelle King, the dark comedy stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead as a young Washington DC staffer who begins noticing something wrong with the politicians on Capitol Hill—mysterious bugs are eating their brains. The cast also includes Aaron Tveit, Tony Shalhoub, Nikki M. James, Johnny Ray Gill, Charlie Semine, and Jan Maxwell.
At the TCAs, Geller said no decision has been made yet regarding BrainDead‘s future:
For all you @BrainDeadCBS fans, don't hold your breath waiting for a pickup commitment today; they've made no decision as of yet. #TCA16

So far, the show hasn’t performed as well in the ratings as many of CBS’ other series. Seven episodes into season one, BrainDead is averaging a .46 in the 18-49 demo and 3.054 million viewers.
What do you think? Are you watching BrainDead? Would you like another season?
Yes, I love it! The combination of sci-fi, political thriller, comedy and romance make this highly entertaining. A great way to forget that it’s Sunday night & heading into the workweek…
It’s the only reason I bought a subscription for CBS streaming service. It’s the only thing we watch that isn’t on Netflix and the only thing worth watching right now. The only logical reason to cancel it would be if the alien bugs had already eaten the brains of CBS execs.
Braindead is a most engaging, mind boggling, amusing, and smart visit to a parallel universe. It is highly comedic without relying on one liner sexual jokes. It is a modern day political thriller of sorts without violence and war being it’s cornerstone. This is such a unique show that an early cancelation would be a tragedy. The description always focuses on bugs eating politician’s brains. Until you see it, you cannot begin to understand how this could be anything other than gory. I nearly didn’t give it a chance to prove itself otherwise. Such a description is a disservice to… Read more »
Brilliant show! We love it and will be so disappointed if they cancel. Finally something different. So clever!
It’s truly a witty satire of American politics and the politicians behind it. We love it and have been distraught after having been unable to follow it after the Conventions (tricky Sunday schedule…we thought they were reruns of the first episodes). Great argument. Hope you keep it up.
It’s the only drama on network tv that we watch. Everything else is on cable. Don’t kill the only truly original show. A great satire.
Love this show! So clever, manages to encapsulate the absurdity of our US political system in concise and funny scenes and Mary Elizabeth Winstead is a national treasure!
This si SUCH a great show – PLEASE renew. I had no idea it was airing on Sundays now, and not the Monday night time slot it had been airing in. Once I found it again (just by happenstance), I have been watching it on demand. Please give it a chance – I am sure poor ratings are due to it being moved around. It is so fun, intriguing, entertaining. KEEP BRAINDEAD!!
No hope left if Braindead is not renewed. It is the only thing keeping me and my wife sane these daze.
Such a terrific show, hope it is given a chance to find its audience. Great writing and acting. Funny, thrilling, romantic.
I love this show! It is brilliant and funny!
Shows like this fail because they are not the cookie cutter format TV execs like. Perhaps they have bugs in their brains. But message to CBS, this is one of only two show I’ve watched beyond the first show this summer.
LOVE IT LOVE LOVE IT IT IS SO WELL WRITTEN SO INTELLIGENT Not for the average mind
One of the best new shows in years. I look forward to Braindead every week. It’s funny, perfectly cast and timely.
Please renew.
Please renew or try to sell it another network, great antidote for all the political nonsense that happening now. The show must have a satisfying resolution
