Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?
They should’ve make a final ending that made sense like is she banging paul now or what???
Wish Cedar Cove hadn’t been cancelled. Also, wish that the storylines were wrapped up and didn’t leave the viewers hanging.
Definitely not it was a wonderful TV series. All of the actors and the storyline was fantastic. I hope that this show stays for a long time. Do not cancel this show!
Oh noooooo, I so don’t want them to cancel the show. I loved it and looked forward to every episode. I’ve been watching other seasons while waiting for the next one. Dang…I think they should continue. Acting was great, the love between the actors was believable and palpable. I hope they rethink this!
Loved the show and cast the actors were good it was every day things to life and where it was filmed was beautiful so sorry it has ended
The show is still playing on Netflix and yes it ended abruptly on a cliff hanger!!!!! Very unfortunate and I don’t want to trust you Hallmark people ever again because my hubby and I invested so much time for a show with no ending…….Shameful!!!!!
Sad sad sad. Why do they do that? At least do a reunion show to show us who ended with whom, hallmark how sad. I hope you don’t stop when calls the heart this way either
Gosh darn it! Bring back Season 4 or at the very least a few last episodes to close ALL those ends!! We….your Hallmark Viewers deserve better than to be left out hanging in the cold!!
My wife, my mother, and I love Cedar Cove. We’ve been wondering why it was on such a long hiatus (we don’t do Facebook). We had hoped for a Season 4, but apparently that won’t happen. Is there is any possibility of a wrap-up presentation? Perhaps movie to tie up loose ends?
I am so sorry this show has been cancelled. I watched it every week. Great cast.
Bring back Cedar Cove. I watched religiously, and I’m not a big TV watcher. I would love to see an ending.
Loved the show.wish you had not cancelled it.
/this stinks, another getting us interested and then cancelling the series…not so sure if I want to continue my netflix…..at least with dish I get the series completely ,,,upset netflix for several years user
I really don’t care about all the little complaints about the show – I found those ridiculous. I enjoyed the show, loved the characters, liked having something I could just relax to and not overthink. I loved the scenery, the people, I didn’t want or expect artsy acting and drama it is exactly what I wanted. I am very disappointed that they canceled season 4. Andie McDowell is a great character and criticism of her – what do people want? She is supposed to be a genuine small town woman with sincerity, simplicity and some class. I am sad that… Read more »
I LOVED Cedar Cove. I am so sad that it was not renewed. My sister and friends I work with all love the show…so bummed.
I would absolutely watch the show if you bring it back or do a reunion show. Oh please at least do a reunion…I gotta see her dump Jack and move on!
I just discovered that Cedar Cove was cancelled. While I loved the show for the first 2 seasons, the third season was disappointing. Like other comments here, I loved the scenery, but the plot lines were getting a bit desperate and unbelievable. Almost too much drama. Still, sorry to see it go.
I’m very sorry to see it end. I feel the story should of ended. Hope they can at least do an ending.
