Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?
sad that olivia didn’t end up with the cute district attorney…but jack is sober so I guess he’ll do….
Loved this series please give us a season 4!!!!!!!!!!
Just started watching on Netflix! Watched all 3 seasons in 2 days. Definitely disappointed that this was cancelled. Feel like it definitely left off and did not answer a lot of things. Will miss this for sure!
Loved the series, I want season 4!
We just got Netflix and started the series. My hubby and I love it.
Extremely disappointing. I’ve read the Debbie McComber books and they are fantastic. This was a fabulous series with excellent casting of characters. With all the reality TV garbage that’s out there, it is a joy to find a show about love, family and valuable life lessons. I’m so sorry that they couldn’t at least bring the story lines to a conclusion.
I’m with you on this one for sure!!!
I loved watching Cedar Cove I wish it had not been canceled
This show shall keep going is one of the best! I am so sad to hear about the cable company canceling it!
This show deserves a final season for it’s ardent viewers. Come on Netflix. Do what you did for “Longmire” and make us fans happy.
I love Cedar Cove and was sad to see that there is no season 4. I don’t like how it only had three seasons and then they just quit. why give up so easy?
Just found season 3 at the library. Loved it! Loved the first 2 seasons. If Hallmark won’t continue it I wish Netflix would pick it up!
With dedicated viewers like we are it was not fair to at least give us a few final closing episodes.
It’s really upsetting to get really disappointing to have series cancelled so soon with out wrapping them up , finishing the story! Never cancel a series without ending it! So unfair to the viewers who have invested their time and heart into it. Now you have cancelled Chesapeake Shores. It makes me and I’m sure other viewers wary to start watching another series at all.
Chesapeake Shores has been renewed for season 2. There will be 10 episodes that start this summer.
Cedar Cove was our family’s favorite show! It was a real treasure amidst so much junk on tv. We’re so sad that there’s no conclusion, though.
I really loved this show and am heartbroken.
