Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?
I would very much like to see cedar cove return with a season 4; hopefully the writers can make it happen!
Being it back! Loved the show ..never should have been cancelled
I’m very disappointed that my beloved show Cedar Cove will not be returning, I’m not one to give up easy & I hope at some point this show will return. I like the town, the setting, the Times and the people. A show with hardly any violence was refreshing.
I can NOT believe this awesome series was cancelled. I wish i had known this prior to watching. The greatest and now nothing. All the nudity and crap stays on and the goodness leaves-pathetic.
You are so right. The ratings dropped only because of the few that wanted more sex, nudity, filthy language. As a Christian, I find it extremely rare to find a show like this that offers a good clean show. Maybe some of the acting was not up to par, but the story line was great and the scenery alone was worth watching it. I felt cheated to get to the end and “wham”, you are dropped like a hot potato. I guess you can’t even count on Hallmark anymore.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE film a 2 hour follow up movie to close this out if you cannot continue the series. the writing for olivia was getting a little vapid but i still watched the show. the scenery was gorgeous – a little vacation for the soul.
Wish they would put it back on, good show. Miss it
They should have kept this series, good hearted television without all the nudity and foul language. What a shame, would love to see it come back on again.
This was a good series. Very disappointed, once again we get letdown cause not enough $ was made. Poop!
I am heartbroken. I love this series and wish you would reconsider continuing it.
I absolutely loved Cedar Cove. I looked forward to it each week. Very disappointed it won’t be returning. If it’s not returning, a wrap up movie would be appreciated.
I am so disappointed. Hallmark is my favorite channel and I’ve been waiting for some news about when Cedar Cove would be on this year. I finally couldn’t stand it anymore so I did a search, only to find that the show was canceled. The story, the scenery, the actors all will be missed. One lady suggested a two hour movie to wrap up the story. I think that would be a great idea if it’s possible.
Thank you for all the wonderful programming you produce. Hallmark is a breath of fresh air in a stale world! : )
I loved this series. It was such a break from life for me. Please answer our questions in a fourth season! Or at least a two hour movie. You can’t just end it!
Cedar cove was my breath of fresh air. I am so disappointed with hallmarks decision. Please reconsider
I’m so bummed, just was wondering about that series and it’s been cancelled. Andie McDowell was really good. I see lots of those characters in other shows, why not her??
I just finished viewing all three seasons, and would be delighted to know that there will be a Season 4. I loved the series!!!!!
