Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?
I fell inlove with this show! I hated the way they ended it!! Please bring it back!! I didn’t even know this show was around when it was!! I wish I would have known maybe if more people did it would t have gotten cancelled!! I saw it on Netflix and fell in love!
I have been looking for season 4 and now you say it is cancelled. So very disappointed. This was a very good show and I sure enjoyed it.
Please bring on Season 4 or as has been stated before, a movie to wrap it all up! I have so enjoyed this series. It has helped me to stop and smell the roses. Thank you so much!
Again stupidity reigns! Why would you decide to end the best show on your channel?? Hallmark has been one of our top watched channels but we are rethinking that choice greatly….
I agree with the other 4000+ responses… Bring it back or give us a movie to tie up the storyline. A wonderful series has ended before it should have!
I adored Cedar Cove and am very disappointed that the series has been cancelled. Great characters, great actors and great storyline.
I absolutely fell in love with Cedar Cove, compared to other tv series it’s by far one of the most wholesome. I guess my only big con would be it’s lack of diversity but that’s not Hallmark’s fault as it is the author of this series.
I’m extremely disappointed that we will never get to find out what happens with Paul and Olivia way to end this series – what a tease!!!
Bring at least season 4 back!
Please continue the story. Love the people and the place. Love the humor and quirkiness thru life’s ups and downs. Thanks
There should been a season 4 or maybe one final show to tie up the lose ends.
OMGosh! Are you serious Hallmark! So disappointed in no more Cedar Cove! You get us interested, then drop it at the crucial parts of what the heck would be happening next! The year before Christmas show that was put on, then had to wait a year for part two, which I didn’t get to see!! Why are you doing this to us?!! Not Loving this when I love the shows you put on but leave us hanging! You ended Cedar Cove at a bad ending!
I was home very sick for over a week and watched all three seasons on Netflix. Whereas the location was exquisite and made me want to find out where the mystical “Cedar Cove” was; the cast were all very good in their rolls from the endearing “Moon” to the love-to-hate Warren; the writing and storylines of the show followed what seems to be the formula that many other series have unfortunately followed to their own demise. As a woman I would like to ask if the writers were purposely or were unknowingly ignorant of how women were portrayed in this… Read more »
I loved the show Cedar Cove…. can’t believe the show was cancelled with a cliffhanger No more Hallmark station for me!!!!
I’m with all the other posts here in wanting a finale to the Cedar Cove series. What is Olivia’s answer to Paul’s question? What resolution did Luke & Justine come to? Did Grace move to Cliff’s ranch? Did the sisters make up? Did Warren get what he deserved? Please bring the show back.
I think it is unfair to the many who watched three seasons of Cedar Cove to just end it and leave faithful watchers hanging. It was a series that families could watch because it was without the bad language. I think Netflix should picking it up and finish it. There seams to be a lot of viewers who liked this program and who would like it to be carried on.
Please bring this show back. I love the characters and it was such a wonderful difference then most things on TV.
