For the first time since the 2008 writers strike, veteran crime drama CSI won’t have a full season of episodes. CBS has reportedly decided to cut season 15’s order from 22 to 18 installments.
The original CSI continues to follow Las Vegas crime scene investigators as they try to solve bizarre cases. This season’s castmates are Ted Danson, Elisabeth Shue, George Eads, Jorja Fox, Eric Szmanda, Robert David Hall, Wallace Langham, David Berman, Elisabeth Hamois, and Jon Wellner.
The ratings are understandably down year-to-year, thanks to CSI’s move to Sunday nights when start-times often get pushed thanks to football over-runs. Still, the numbers aren’t bad compared to previous year’s timeslot occupants.
The episode trim is supposedly due to the network having too much programming waiting in the wings. New series CSI: Cyber will take over the Sundays at 10pm timeslot later in the season. The network also has the seventh (and final) season of The Mentalist and Vince Gilligan’s new series Battle Creek.
What do you think? Are you still watching the original CSI? Do you think this is a bad sign for the show’s future or just a case of limited timeslots.
I still watch CSI and I would still be watching the other CSI show. I think moving it to Sunday hurts the show
I still watch and the show has gotten a lot better, I do not want it to be canceled.
Please don’t cance this show especially George Eads. This show is the best
Keep it!!!
“Do you think this is a bad sign for the show’s future or just a case of limited timeslots?” I think it’s both. “Numb3rs”, “Medium”, and “CSI”‘s Miami and New York spinoffs got reduced season orders and they ended up ceasing their original runs. Aside from that, “Stalker”, which airs in the Wednesdays at 10 timeslot, got a full-season order. I only get a chance to watch “CSI” on Sundays if there are no NFL late-afternoon overruns on CBS. The November 9 original airing got a 1.2 demo rating; this is not good, it’s the worst demo rating that this… Read more »
I really hope they don’t cancel sci, I think with the actors they have now it’s better than its ever been. I love the show and hope it continues. And I agree about the stupid football running over, wish that would stop.
I meant csi
Football needs to go I am so tired of it running over I have U-verse tv and it cuts off sci and madam Secretary can wants you to watch their new shows and football cuts them off so them I miss half the episode when I use the dvr so maybe I should stop watching cbs all together because this is getting so old and cbs is not on on-demand on u-verse like all the other networks it’s ridiculous
I hate this! When I saw what time slot your putting CSI on I knew what was going to happen! This sucks! This show is awesome ! We don’t want CSI Cyber we want George Eads and the team back on a different night! We’re the viewers and you should listen! We’re the ones who watch! All these stupid shows that are on like reality tv sucks get CSI on a different night maybe Wednesday not sunday!
I go to CBS to watch CSI not football, if I wanted sports I would go to ESPN. It’s always the big brass who sells the viewer short.
Hear! Hear! I totally agree wit many of these posts. I don’t think it at all right to judge ratings based on a program airing late and not at the scheduled time. And agree about the sport – there are enough Sport dedicated channels that can air these games no problem!
Lets start a petition to CBS to order a full season of eps and stop running God damn reruns this time of year. Anyone know how to set one up on-line.
Or it’s about the almighty dollar….
I never particularly liked the spin off programs of CSI. The original version has always been the best and I really hate how it keeps being bumped because of football. That stupid show you broadcast instead is not worth watching. Bad decision and one more lost customer.
They are doing the same thing that they did with the Mentalist. I agree with all the above statements. How can you even rate the show when you are not showing it!!!!!!
·Preempting^
If cbs keeps preemption csi they might as well cancel it.
Why did CBS put CSI in a time slot on Sunday night, that is doomed to fail in ratings, as it hasn’t been shown since the new season started? This is due to the constant over-times of the football games. It’s almost like they want to get rid of it! Myself and numerous are quite disgusted with CBS for this!!! We here in Florida are scheduled to have football on 5 nights a week, Saturday and Sunday (daytime and evening) also on various channels. Is this what it’s come down to? We are all sick and tired of football, as… Read more »
CBS is going to have a tough time getting in 18 episodes of CSI if it keeps getting preempted by football running an hour late. Might as well just cancel it and run PSA’s or paid advertising.
I hate cbs always cancelling shows in the later time slot why don’t they cut some of the earlier shows, like 60 min, or Good wife! I don’t watch those, so how can you judge a show when they don’t play them? I hate football, not everyone watches them.
I called this as soon as I heard CBS was moving CSI to Sunday night, during football season. CBS has lost interest in their flagship drama and to justify their decision they have decided to trash it. Further evidence? November is sweeps month and CBS is yet again running a rerun tonight. They just don’t care.
