It’s the end of the line for the Dallas TV show — for the second time. TNT has announced that they’ve cancelled the new Dallas TV show after three seasons.
A continuation of the successful CBS series from the 1970s, 80s and 90s, Dallas follows the machinations of two generations of the dysfunctional and powerful Ewing clan. The cast includes Josh Henderson, Jesse Metcalfe, Jordana Brewster, Julie Gonzalo, Brenda Strong, Patrick Duffy, Linda Gray, Mitch Pileggi, Emma Bell, Kuno Becker, and Juan Pablo Di Pace.
Year-to-year, season three of Dallas was down by 26% in viewership and down by 38% in the 18-49 demographic. It’s one of TNT’s lowest-rated scripted series and that certainly wasn’t a good sign for its chances of a fourth season.
In a statement, TNT said, “We are extremely proud of the series, which defied expectations by standing as a worthy continuation of the Ewing saga. We want to thank everyone involved with the show, from the extraordinary cast to the impeccable production team, led by the show’s creative forces, Cynthia Cidre and Mike Robin. We especially want to thank the people of Dallas for their warm and generous hospitality during the production of the series.”
Cidre and the writers have been working on scripts and ideas for a fourth season of Dallas so hopefully she’ll share what would have happened at some point.
What do you think? Will you miss the Ewings? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you watch it on another channel?
bring Dallas back bring Dallas back bring Dallas back
SO SAD. Another good show to watch and gone! Oh course the young people don’t watch it. They are all out wining and dining. There is nothing on TV except for cop shows and reality shows. Do not even watch those. Bring back Dallas! It was a great cast and storyline. Also it had the original opening and closing theme song! The best in TV history!
I am very sad that Dallas has been cancelled. I would definitely watch it if it moves to another channel. Disappointed does not even begin to describe how I am feeling about the show being cancelled.
TV is awful now with no Dallas to look forward to. They givith and taketh away.
The days with Dallas were grand. I wish they’d see that and bring it back.
Oh I’m so mad. This is an insult to Larry Hagman. If you still own the station Turner you need to save this show. Someone pick up this show!
I agree that is was wrong to cancel the show. I would watch it on another network. Maybe the CW could pick it up or CMT. This sucks!!!!!!!!!!
Yes I whant Dallas back ,I don’t care on what channel I just love the show !
I have been waiting for the new season only to find out it has been canceled. I would definitely watch it on any channel. It’s a mistake to cancel such a great series!!! I hope it will return!!!!
I would definitely watch it on another network. Bring it back!
I will definitely watch on any different channel. What is the problem? I’m 70 years young and I enjoyed this version better than the old one. Why couldn’t they just end it right and not leave us hanging. I’m getting disgusted with these stations that leave us hanging, they did it to Vegas and Evolution. Maybe I’ll start just watching movies, at least we know how most end.
Please bring Dallas back to your channel my family and I love watching all shows on your channel and we especially miss watching Dallas . Believe it or not I grew up watching the old series and when I heard they came back with a new one I was so excited and I even got my family and some friends to watch it as well. So Please please bring it back. Especially with the way it went off last year it’s not nice to leave it’s fans hanging to know what happens next.
Dallas was destination tv on Monday! I would follow to another network
Dallas… a class TV show. TNT… a rank network that should never have been worthy of having this show. Yes it was a bad fit. I sure hope a decent network will realize how many fans this show has and bring it back.
Well said Mike!
As a Tv station, TNT’s ‘stock-and-trade’ is ‘simple-camera’ sports, no-name cheap dramas, and reruns. Dallas probably cost 10 times their average show and just couldn’t be made ‘TNT efficient’, money-wise. The cast was very, very good except for the obvious ‘Mexican-loading’, and even the loss of JR couldn’t stop the good scripts. If Cidre had held out for something a little better than the cheap, Time-Warner station, they most likely would be having a season 4. Too bad !! Good scripts, good cast !! ( and Cliff is stuck in some Mexican jail for eternity ). What a way to… Read more »
I was loving DALLAS. That’s just stupid to cancel it in my opinion. I’ll watch it regardless of what channel they’d run it on. It was good. I’m a fan. TNT get it together!!!
