It’s the end of the line for the Dallas TV show — for the second time. TNT has announced that they’ve cancelled the new Dallas TV show after three seasons.
A continuation of the successful CBS series from the 1970s, 80s and 90s, Dallas follows the machinations of two generations of the dysfunctional and powerful Ewing clan. The cast includes Josh Henderson, Jesse Metcalfe, Jordana Brewster, Julie Gonzalo, Brenda Strong, Patrick Duffy, Linda Gray, Mitch Pileggi, Emma Bell, Kuno Becker, and Juan Pablo Di Pace.
Year-to-year, season three of Dallas was down by 26% in viewership and down by 38% in the 18-49 demographic. It’s one of TNT’s lowest-rated scripted series and that certainly wasn’t a good sign for its chances of a fourth season.
In a statement, TNT said, “We are extremely proud of the series, which defied expectations by standing as a worthy continuation of the Ewing saga. We want to thank everyone involved with the show, from the extraordinary cast to the impeccable production team, led by the show’s creative forces, Cynthia Cidre and Mike Robin. We especially want to thank the people of Dallas for their warm and generous hospitality during the production of the series.”
Cidre and the writers have been working on scripts and ideas for a fourth season of Dallas so hopefully she’ll share what would have happened at some point.
What do you think? Will you miss the Ewings? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you watch it on another channel?
Bring Dallas back! It was so exciting to see all my favorite characters! I’ve beena fan since I was a kid. I’m still crazy for Bobbie Ewing!
So disappointed. Maybe they can replace it with more serial killers and autopsies? Really?
Just checked to see when Dallas was coming back – so disappointed! The cast couldn’t have done a better job and the storyline was jaw dropping. Guess they’ll replace it with more serial killers and autopsies??? Really?
That’s ridiculous how they just cancel the show in the middle of a series !!! I’m done watching TNT
Yes I would continue watching I am so disappointed!
Want Dallas to continue!!
Hey, they brought back Xfiles…Can you believe it? (Oh I want to believe 🙂
So where’s Dallas? Dallas is far more popular than Xfiles was (Although Xfiles isn’t bad by any means) Just seems fair to return Dallas too. Dallas was my fave. Come to your $enses TV people.
Darn! I’ve just now cancelled the auto-tune I had set for that time slot on Mondays (set so I wouldn’t miss when season 4 began). I hate when they leave us hanging with no ending. Getting to where I’m reluctant to invest myself in new shows. Which is why I spend so much time watching the old shows that had such long runs… which I don’t have to worry about not ending properly.
Shame on TNT.
Bring Dallas Back….
I am extremely disappointed that Dallas is cancelled. I loved that show and was just checking to see when it would start again. I even thought it should run more weeks at a time. Bummer!
Whaaaaaat? I have been looking forward to the twists & turns of the continuing saga of the Ewings vs. Elena’s (brother and mother’s) rights to South Fork acreage and power over oil rights, not to mention Bobbie’s fight for it all. What will I do? I’ll have to write the ending myself. I’ll miss the always classic and surprising cliff hangers that kept me looking forward to the next episode. I thought I’d had enough of Dallas with the “who shot JR” era. Well slap my face!
I think they should renew Dallas for another season. I miss the show Dallas. I would watch it every. Ivht if they would show it.please ease renew Dallas. TV is not the same without Dallas.
TV isn’t the same without Dallas. There just isn’t anything on but documentarys (which aren’t bad, really but so many) and the so predictable shows you feel like a pychic because you know exactly where the plot is going or it is something so rediculous you just don’t care about it. We need Dallas back to bring some class to TV again.
I wish it would come back I thought it was a good show , at work me and coworkers couldn’t wait to get to work and talk about what happen on Dallas. It was on in the Spring and people are out. PLEASE consider bringing it back in the Fall.
That is disappointing, I blame the network, had a crappy placement….spring/summer when everyone is busy outside, no wonder the poor turn out, demographics, the younger demographic is out on a patio. Dallas needs to be picked up by a network, who want to work and market the show. Maybe fx or even Netflix will come to the rescue
